Yep but by the time they changed it the car had a bad rep and was already doomed.

I looked at them when they were new but the lack of a back seat was a deal breaker. Ours may not be great but at least it is there when you really need one.

True, but they still sold about 3 times as many as the first Gen MR2 as I recall. Still wouldn't have traded my MR2 for one.

Yea, the lack of a back seat is what knocked it off the list for me as well. I was looking new and used so that wasn't an impact for me.

I almost bought one close to 8-9 years ago but I was like 300 dollars short of what the owner wanted. At the time I had a couple friends that happened to have trucks, so it was doable if I had to move some shit.

The drivetrain has to be near bulletproof as the E320 and so forth had been in existence for more than some can remember.

Next, of historical importance, the Crossfire was the first vehicle to brandish 19 inch wheels. Because of this, tire manufacturers had a new baseline to satisfy and work with.

I haven't had a good couple nights in town for a while but I am pretty sure for those who love it or hate it, the 19 inch technology carried on to trucks and SUV's. It may be a coincidence that around this era, it is not surprising to see performance edition luxo-barges keep up with Mustangs and S2000's on the track. Tire squealing and complaining with violence was different back then.

The Crossfire was the best sports car value! I bought a brand new 2007 Base Crossfire that had been sitting on the lot for a year. This was a $30000 car. I bought it for $17000. I had it for 6 years, my wife and I drove it all over the country and up to Banff and never had a problem. It was basically a Mecedes SLK with new sheetmetal. I gave it to my daughter and son-in-law in 2014. They still use it everyday.

Exactly! You read about them and people scream about how they were no good but none of those people every actually owned or drove one. I found it was a blast to drive.

Gotta give it to him. His description is sort of accurate.

I never said it was bad. It's a Mercedes SLK in different clothes. What I said was that it was ugly.

Beauty is in the eye of the beholder. When I started shopping for my current sports car, I looked at the new Miata and the new Fiat Spyder (Fiata). I liked the styling of the Fiata much better than the Miata. Many people have an opinion that is exactly opposite. My search ended with my new Scion FR-S. I think we all agree on this forum that the Scion/Subaru/Toyota's are absolutely stunning!
