We'll always offer catalyst options in all of our designs. Especially if there is a regulatory reason to compel us to run them for a specific market. Keep us informed on what other regs you have, etc when we discuss design ideas. Orbital, what state are you in?

Snooze, I know we are working on an updated downpipe for the STi specifically for the Aussie market, featuring twin cats and a long tube high mount wastegate recirculation option. We want every excuse possible to come down there. Met with the GM at Pedders Suspension yesterday and hit it off great. Bill is an awesome guy and he was doing his best to give us reasons to come visit their operations down there. We'll probably be working with them directly in order to augment our line of control arms, sway bars and chassis bracing. Also keep us informed as to who your go-to vendors are for the BRZ so that we can chat them up about stocking our parts.

As much as I'm averse to buying parts that don't make power, I would buy a resonated midpipe if it functioned well in noise reduction and was lighter than the OEM component.
I'm glad to know that is something that people may be interested in. I'll toss one of our 'heavy lifting special' 4" resonators into the prototype we have here today and get some more videos of it on the car. That is a simple place for us to reduce sound and get people the option of a full 304 stainless system. I agree that the header cat should be avoided based on the behavior of the car with the catless header.

Ha. I have been to the company who made the mufflers and tips for those Magnaflow exhausts. I'm not a huge fan of overseas manufacturing, but I came from a company who had some excellent connections overseas. Believe it or not, most of that Ti Magnaflow stuff was made in Korea. And I'll tell ya what, those guys were amazing at what they did. Haaaa! We might be brewing enthusiasts also...this 10 gallon Brutus brewing system was my first Stainless TIG welding project from a few years ago (note: I am not one of the welders here, but I can TIG Stainless well enough):

Yeah I've had other exhaust folks look at the Magnaflow Ti and everyone has always been impressed with the work. They only made them for a fairly short amount of time. Mine withstood quite a bit of abuse on the street and offroad as well.

I'm looking for a stock-class catback exhaust and as I understood right now replacing the factory midpipe isn't exactly a weight-saver, but if it was in Ti I'm sure it would at least save a few lbs. In the end the race pipe is going to be lighter than anything else and for larger events I'd end up just using that anyways as opposed to a dual-exit axleback. Now if you made the race pipe in Ti...

Here's an idea: is there enough room in your catted downpipe for a resonator? Then there wouldn't be the extra cost of replacing the midpipe. Of course, then the car would have 2 resonators... dunno what the implications are, if any.

Well said, I have the exact same position on this. My locality in Virginia also has emissions via OBD with an additional visual inspection.

My only other request is that the cat be within 6" from the second cat's original location (I <B SCCA.)

I also thought it would be nice if we could cram sound & emissions onto the downpipe, thereby leaving everything else straight through until you hit the mufflers. That way for the track you could toss on a straight through downpipe and dump for a lightweight straight through race setup.

I can certainly agree Budweiser is as bout as terrible as Fosters..... The rest u mention i have never seen at the local bottle (liquor) shop in West Aus but not to say its not in some of the more gourmet liquor shops around lol... Would be more than happy to find a few of ur local beers hidden away in the titanium system i hope to get through u guys....

NC is a far ways away from WA but that would be one fun trip!

In more related news, somebody told me we have a similar visual inspection here in NC but I think most places are pretty lax about it. Hell, the last place I went to with my catless Si just saw my parking sticker for work (race team) and chatted me up about that while they just went through the OBD2 motions and passed it without a problem.

We are considering doing a regular meet-up here like COBB does with their First Tuesdays. We're in the middle of nowhere though, so it's a little tougher than being a big shop in a business park. The last meet we had, there were about 35 cars here. The driveway/pad/area surrounding the shop looked like someone was playing a game of tetris with Hyundai's and Kias.

We can take a crack at a catted and resonated downpipe, but it would require the rear section be re-routed from its current configuration. Will be testing a resonated midpipe today as well. Tossing the prototype intake on right now. Just got another datalogging run done for the catless header, seems to have no issues with O2 sensor differential readings or thermal readings, we're at about 10 key cycles, 2 cold starts, 65 miles and another 30 minutes of idle time beyond that and no CEL.
