I'm fine with that, on such a new car it wouldn't even be checked if pulled over, certainly not in W.A anyway... Nonetheless for "track" purposes only obviously

I appreciate that's a lot of ifs but I would not be taking the risk of making my insurance null and void.

Please pardon the thread hijack.

why and how could insurance deny you a claim if you had aftermarket parts, that clearly doesnt make sense.......here state side you can even opt to insure your aftermarket goodies just show proof of parts and or purchase and when you totaled a car they also include the pricing of parts minus depreciatin

Because the car is not road worthy,ie, it doesn't meet Australian Design Rules. I have a one piece seat and larger diameter front rotors fitted to my current car. To be legal I had to get an Engineer's Certificate and present that to the Vehicle Registration Authority. After removing the rear seats and belts I had to have the car examined by the same Authority. Why? Because it was originally registered as a 5 seater and I had turned it into a 2 seater. Removing any emission control devices is illegal in Australia.Same as airbags. I cannot fit a racing seat to the 86 as it has an airbag in the original seat. Some aftermarket parts are fine; just have to be aware of what is allowed and what is not.

U would have to be unlucky to get voided by insurance for not so major modifications. Yes u are correct however by going by the book limits almost everything and anything aftermarket and the amount of times u would have to revisit the VRA (pits) for things like changing seats, seat belts, not to mention changing rims, having aftermarket exhaust even if it meets emissions tests as well as noise regulations, and then there is suspension upgrades, any modification/replacement to the oem suspension without being inspected and approved by VRA is technically illegal as is bodykits....

But there are only certain things they will check dependent of what they consider caused the incident or crash....

U can be as anal as u want and yes it is playing it safe but will cost u a fortune and most likely wont effect ur claim anyway..... I could be wrong and each to there own i guess.....
Sorry for thread theft guys btw..

That header looks fantastic!

I am looking forward to the graphs and to hear what it all sounds like. Hopefully Tain will get some videos of his car on the Dyno for us.

That just looks like a better header! I'd be interested in a catless header design for optimum efficiency, but would probably go for a catted downpipe/overpipe to pass emissions ( there's a visual check) and for green feel-good points. IMHO the header cat is the more important one to remove for power gains, so that further downstream cat shouldn't matter too much. Now make it so Nameless, so you can have all my pennies!

As much as I'm averse to buying parts that don't make power, I would buy a resonated midpipe if it functioned well in noise reduction and was lighter than the OEM component.

Titanium would be great, I had a Magnaflow Ti catback on my WRX. It was single exit, but with a much longer midpipe, and the whole thing weighed 11lbs.

Of course there is a premium but some of us might be willing to pay it.

I've heard Fosters is cause for great angst amongst those of the Australian persuasion, hence a fitting punishment.

Also, where the heck is the "thanks" button around here? Do I have to have a certain number of posts first to use it? Or am I just that stupid?
