Personally, the only thing I even want from the nicer (ie, more expensive models) is the dual zone CC. Have it in my truck and it's fantastic. Nice to set it and forget it for longer drives. |

Honestly the interior amenities and HID headlights were the reasons I got a limited BRZ over a premium. If I had known the FRS was a thing, it would have been the same deal. The cars are all the same, but I wanted alcantara, push button start, HIDs, climate control, and heated seats. The FRS and BRZ premium at the time didn't have these things.

Yep. $10k for a FRS Vs. 30k for a BRZ/T86
Save $20k you can use on anything.

Where are you buying $10K FRSs?

My last 3 cars had it and after 3 years I still jump in and try to push the non existent button. Although I have now developed the habit of leaving the wife's car (does have it) running and walking away because there was no key to pull out.

![]() I get what you mean about those little habits that we develop. I always kick for the imaginary clutch pedal in my wife's car.

I could care less about heated seats but the heated steering wheel in my buddies bimmer is legit. Twins need that option
Salvaged/rebuilt title ones are $10-13k |

But yes, if you get the release series or RS, you can get the same features as the BRZ. Where? |

Happy with my FR-S, no interest in the supposed 'upgrades' Subaru offers, regardless of price.
The savings in pocket was just a happy bonus imo. If my car got wrecked, I'd look at other options, but odds are high I'd pick up a used '14-'15 FR-S, MT, Hot Lava, and buy a non-touchscreen head unit from the '13. |

Yes, if you search hard enough. There are the obvious risks with those though. Not an issue for anybody prepared to deal with anything that pops up but anybody asking the question of which to buy should probably steer well clear of such cars. No matter how well repaired they are that cheap for a reason.

Just because Hostess closed down doesn't mean a twinkie isn't still a twinkie. They opened the factories back up and are still churning out twinkies.
In the same way, just because scion is a defunct brand doesn't make the FRS less of an 86 than any of the other siblings in terms of drive train. Subaru plants in FHI are still churning out the 86 and it's variants. At the end of the day, if you need it, get the ones with all the bells and whistles you need. I bought the FRS to drive the hell out of it. Both the BRZ and FRS felt exactly the same to me on a drive from point a to b on a daily drive. There are some subtle differences if you push the car to do things outside of reasonable every day driving habits, but going down a straight road, getting groceries, taking corners without hammering the throttle. Same same, but different, but still same. Couldn't be happier with the money I spent on getting the FRS. I'd worry more about not having an AC rather than heated seats. Seriously, these's are cloth seats that warm up pretty quick with body heat already. if anything heated cloth seats is just something extra to go wrong down the road + added weight. |
