Not to mention there really isn't anything comparable at any price in the American market. It could mean that they may make something again.

When was the last time an American company built a lightweight, slightly underpowered, well balance sports car?

Well some would dispute them even if they were the best cars ever made but:
Crossfire
Solstice
Sky
Fiero
Never said it was a long or great list!

No one really knows what this tax could encompass. It could only be for imports from mexico to the US, not from any other part of the world. We have no idea yet though. It could encourage Toyota to bring more of its production to the US, the Japanese companies especially have to have a plan for this, it is why Toyota, Subaru, and Honda, etc, all have plants in the US and keep bringing more production into the USA. They always have been scared of the USA retaliating to the supposed way Japan treats American cars.

I'm in the same boat. Would even consider an SRT 6(? Or was it 4?) crossfire.

The solstice looked horrible. At least the sky looked nice, and the redline had decent specs. The crossfire looks like a dog hunching to take a shit. It could be the best-handling car ever and someone would have to pay me to take one.

Hmmm not the reaction I was expecting from the Japanese biased mob. They were indeed all good cars and many of the American complaints are the same we hear on the Triplets. They just could not compete with the muscle cars that people wanted them to be or the JDM/DDM Yo crowds.

Not sure if we had the gxp or redlines here. If we did I have never seen one and they don't show up in Autotrader. A nice clean SRT6 can be had for around $20K though.

The gxp and redlines are super rare. I looked a couple years ago cuz my GF wanted something different. Didnt find a single one nation wide for like 3 months so we bought the spyder instead.

Solstice and Sky aren't American. They are badge engineered versions of the Opel Speedster. British built.

Which kinda begs the question - how would the tax affect American manufacturers that are just rebranding foreign assets?

GM can buy part of Toyota and then sell Toyota's cars tax free?

GM already has a joint venture with Honda...lol

The SRT6s are sweet! I drove on at the cottage one time years ago. were way more money than I could afford back then though.

The SRT-6 trim level, as both coupe and convertible, featured an AMG supercharged engine delivering 330*hp (246*kW) and 310*lb·ft (420*N·m) of torque.[2] Other SRT-6 model specific features included suspension and brake modifications, a front fascia air dam and a fixed vs. retractable rear spoiler. The Crossfire SRT-6 model used the same drive-train, suspension, and braking components as those used on the Mercedes-Benz SLK 32 AMG.

It would tax everything imported no matter where the parent company is registered. So even Fords or Chevys made in Mexico and Canada would be subject to it. But cars built here like the Subaru Forestor wouldnt be
