non-correctable front license plate - cop being @$$hole

Today, in a sunny day, cruising with speed limit at 70 ,and then there is @$$hole cop decided to come and pull me over for a fking front license plate. Ok, I admit it, cus i broke the law, but then he gave me non-correctable ticket for front license plate!!!!

I dont have experience with non-correctable front license plate ticket, he told me i will get a letter from the court.
So wtf is this non-correctable ticket? I heard I have to pay more for non-correctable ticket. What is the procedure?
The citation code is VC5200a which i can supposed to sign off by any officer.
and he checked no correctable violation and infraction.

what a fxxking cop. I see mustang flying by me and you dont catch them and you catch me for no front license plate. God bless America!!!

Correctable means you can get it signed off and just paid the administration fee to court (usually around $25). Non-correctable means you just pay the full fine for the violation iirc. I'm not sure if you still need it signed off to show you rectified the issue though.

@FR-Sky I don't know a lot about CA law, but I did some quick research on it because it piqued my interest. It looks like some have had success with a non-correctible ticket getting it fixed, getting it signed off then showing it to the clerk of court and having it switched or dismissed. Apparently they have also recently (since 2010 or so) changed some of the laws in CA so that the officer doesn't have a lot of leeway in this. The one I saw dealt more with aftermarket parts (headlights/taillights/etc that were not certified) than it did front plates though.

If you really want to know what your options are though, it's best to talk to a lawyer that does CA traffic law.

That said, I think you need to cut the officer a break. You admit you were breaking the law, so he had every reason to ticket you. It's like saying the cashier at the grocery store is an asshat because she makes you pay for your groceries. They're just doing their jobs.

(Full disclosure, yes I have family members that are police officers, and on top of that I've never understood the big deal about having a front plate).

Perhaps he checked the wrong box on the ticket if he is asking you to have it signed off and its none correctable? Best thing you can do is stow your attitude and call in and get clarification.

You yourself admitted you knew the rules and yet willingly broke them. So you either shut up and pay the fine, or shut up and fix it and pay the fine.

I've been hit for the same citation here in Minnesota. In my case I was not even driving the car. It was parked out front of my house on the street and the parking police came by and cited it. I put the plate on the bracket the dealer gave me. Zip tied the bracket to the lower bumper so I did not have to drill any holes in the my bumper. Went down showed them it was fixed and I was done with it.

I've had my license for over 10 years. I've never run with a front license place. I've never been ticketed for not having one. Half of the state doesn't use front license plates. It's just an easy excuse for cops to reach their quota.

Contest the ticket OP.

Excuse or not if its a law in the area they can enforce it. Here in Minnesota I have run multiple years without one and never had a single patrol pull me over for it. The two times (two different vehicles) that I got hit for it were both when the car was parked.

What irks me is when people knowingly break the law then bitch an moan about it when they get caught. The cop is doing his job weather you think its tick tac or not. Don't want to pay a fine, don't want to get hassled by the police then obey the law simple as that.

Same - 20yrs and no ticket. Two warnings over the years, but it never amounts to anything.

Cut the officer a break? no shit, he doesnt give me a break. Ofcause, I didnt admit i break the law in front of him. I drove for 10 years and this is my first time getting stupid ticket like this without giving me a warning? Even I have speed tickets, the cop wont even bother to write me front license plate either. He just playing stupid, he could have write me up a $25 fix it ticket instead of couple hundred dollar ticket now. There is no justice.

P.S Cashier at the grocery store is charging me more for the same item, he is not doing their job right.

my point is he is playing stupid, $25 dollar fix it ticket and he wants me to pay couple hundred now. I asked him why it isnt correctable,,his attitude is like fking , "oh, i am gonna write non correctable, what you gonna do?" He keep saying that by signing this doesnt mean its guilty, blah blah blah. Wouldnt you be pissed too?

I'm pretty sure the majority of the public breaks a law on a daily basis without even knowing it. Just because something is a law, that doesn't mean it's something that should be enforced.

People have the right to contest these petty charges, and it's the OP's right to do so.
