Wasn't the kinda of hitting I was hoping for lol. Insurance was pretty high for awhile even though there was no damage.

Nope hit her from behind end of story my fault. Knowing what I know now I would of deff called the cops plus asked other people that saw it to give a statement but like most 16 year olds the blood flow was being used else where and cops are not your friends at that age(Thats what I thought anyway).

I think your correct on this one. Being that its a Monogram series I hope it isn't totaled. I'm not feeling the new '17 front or the lack of interior amenities. It would be going backward in terms with the Monogram. I don't wanna go with the '17 Subaru either mainly because of the badge (no offense Subie guys just my preferance)

Here's an update... Farmer's Insurance is thinking about totaling my Monogram. The current repair cost is $16,079 through a top tier collision repair facility. There's minor frame rail damage to the lower passenger rail where the factory tow hook is located. I'm currently in the car $20,000 (without mods) and still owe the bank an additional $13,000 (called the bank for money still owed). So it's obvious I don't want them to total it.

The collision faciltiy is saying they have to pull the motor and dashboard and remove that complete rail section and install a new one. Is this standard practice?

Does Farmer's know about the mods? If they increase the value of the car then that's going to increase the amount they will have to pay you. That might be enough to push you over the total/not total edge.

Source: had car recently totaled by Farmers.

They know about the mods now. Farmers said they'll only cover $1000 since I didn't report the mods ahead of time. That basically only covers the Tomei 60r exhaust lol. I asked them, "What about the remaining aftermarket parts?". They mainly want to total it for the frame rail damage. I'm still fighting with them to "OK" repairs. If they don't I'm upside down.

Paid = $20k
Owe = $13k
What they offered me = $17k
What I'll get in the end = $4k

Aftermarket parts = trying to see if they'll let me remove all of it. In which case... will be up in the for sale section. Tomei, Enkei, RSR, Cusco, OS Giken, Toms, TRD, ARC, Blitz, ChargeSpeed, etc etc

Two things I will never choose to do when faced with a decision right before an accident:

Risk injury to myself getting in a worse accident in order to save a car or save an "at fault" ruling. A car can always be replaced. Your health/life/well being can't.

Go off the road for any reason unless I absolutely can't help it. See health/life/well being above.

Is there anything on a monogram that you can't just switch over to a base model? Headlights are easy. The slot is there for the heated seats and I bet the plugs are too. Console can probably be switched for the climate control. If they won't fix it, you might want to look into buying it back from insurance and just switching everything over to another good whiteout car.

It is not the insurance company's fault you are upside down and why would they pay out for parts that you didn't report to them? They based your premiums on the value of the car as listed not on what you did to it afterword. Next time get gap insurance on your loan, pay the extra few dollars a year for replacement value insurance (if your company offers it) and report the cost of any mods so they can adjust your premium price and provide coverage. If I totaled my car tomorrow I would walk into the dealer the same day and drive away in a new one with exactly the same mods I have without losing a penny. All for about an extra $100 a year.
The insurance company will not fix the car if it exceeds their dollar value just because you want them to. That is not how it works.

From my understanding... fellow members on the forums have tried to make a base model into Monogram/BRZ Limited with mixed results. The components aren't plug and play from a base model. I personally like the amenities of the Monogram like not having to insert a key, car unlocking by touching the door handle, dual climate control, light up cabin when your near, heated mirrors, and interior trim. Yeah... I've been spoiled lol.
