That's what I was afraid of. Ah such a great world we live in.

Yep and that's the shitty thing. Insure the guy hits you as well, but risk greater physical injury or worse, or hope the prick the doesn't drive off. lose/lose

Well if people didn't try to abuse the system then things may be different. Just to be clear I am not saying that there is abuse in this case but can you imagine if everybody that slid into a curb tried to blame some mystery car?

No way to know without checking suspension. Considering he said he needs a new rad support it could be a fair amount of suspension damage. And good paint is $$$. You could be right but it could easily be more

If he is then I am driving to California for all my body work needs. Will save money in the long run.

Did this person see the whole incident and is your witness?

I called insurance the next day. I have Farmers insurance. They already told me it will be filed as a single vehicle incident. What worried me was when the adjuster said they migjt total the vehicle which In my opinion is ridiculous. They said the side skirt will need to be totally removed and replaced and if there is frame rail damage it will for sure total it. From what I saw... the rail is slightly bowed and the tow hook is definitely pushed back a bit. I asked the adjuster if it being a manual WhiteOut Monogram fully optioned from the factory with 20k miles would raise the value of the vehicle. She said most likely but its based on market value for the car. I told her good luck finding another one within a 50mile radius with the same specs. Current damage is at $4k with oem replacement. That doesn't include the side skirt or the frame rail damage yet. And none of my airbags popped.

As far as the witnesses... they didn't want anything to do with it other than help me get it off the curb. They also saw the whole thing.

Unless your able to get someone to put in writing that they saw it then your likely up shit creek and prepare your anus for the insurance company...

I drive with all the driver aids off because I feel more in tune with the car. I'm by no means a professional driver but I'm also no rookie either. I attend a lot of track events with Speed Ventures and Xtreme Speed here in SoCal. Both with this vehicle and my race prepped EG6. I not sure if all the driver aids would of helped much at that moment. Correct me if I'm wrong.

No one can really answer that. All you can really do is live and learn from what happens and move forward.

My only accident to date was when I was 16. I was following a woman through town and the light was about to change. She sped up and so did I but she got cold feet at the last minute and locked them up and well her car stopped faster then mine and that about sums of the story. I was at fault of course because I hit her from behind where in all reality it was really her fault. I also learned another valuable lesson from this incident in that even if there is no damage have a police report done. There was no damage visible to either of us yet we still exchanged insurance information. 2 weeks later the person was complaing they had to get chiropractic care (this is from a less then 5mph impact) and even though I watched them pull away from the scene with working lights they claim the accident caused their tail lights to stop working.
