Multitude of issues

I dont know what to say

06/2016 took my car in for a tapping noise from passenger side from engine bay. Dropped off the car and weeks later a phone call comes in saying they need to get Subaru engineers come into the shop and check out the car.

Months pass by having no clue whats going on, finally said too much silicon build up in the oil so they have to replace short block.

08/2016 - Get car back its ready for pick up, I pick it up and drive 20 miles and CEL.

Take it back and forth for about 3 weeks(CEL issues kept popping up after they kept fixing them... supposedly)

09/2016 - took car to another state, dealership. They checked everything out and said there seems to be a oil leak and seals seem bad...also told me to take it back to original dealership since they knew what they did. It was safe for me to drive it back.

Took it back and they started work on it again but this time I was FINALLY ALLOWED TO HAVE A RENTAL FROM SUBARU EXPENSE. WOW........

10/2016 near the end i get my car back. I drove 1 month(not too much since I got used to the fact of having no car). No CELs but the tapping noise was coming back(original issue).

11/2016 end of November Subaru of america tells me to take it to a different dealership.

12/2016 middle of December i went(appointment) and wait for about 6 hours??? they tell me the tapping noise is normal and its just the sound of the heat shields for header/exhaust i think?? cooling off. I told him okay thank you etc, I drove out of the dealership and CEL came on ROFL okay buddy. Subaru of america told me to make an appointment and i cant just go into dealership.

Couple of days before christmas I take the car again to same dealership and they said they are "getting weird codes" and couple of hours later telling me it might not even be covered under warranty as the main 3 year has expired but I still retrain power terrain and they would try to get it covered under that. I am so pissed off at this point taking my personal time OFF over n over n over again just to keep driving my car to different dealers and waiting months with no car in hand and nor rentals/loaners.

I am furious, I am paying car payments, full coverage insurance and parking spot(NYC LOL $$$$$$$$$$$) on a monthly basis for a car that never sees the spot.

I left in rage that there is no way I can pay for this as I already wasted too much time and money on a car that never works.

01/2017 with appointment I take car in(CEL disappeared btw), I am happy the CEL disappeared and I took it in again to make sure car is 100% good because at this point im ready to sell it back to Subaru(dealer) with a huge loss(asking me 14.8k for automatic limited 2013 BRZ). They ran the codes to make sure everything is fine then said they are unsure of whats going on with my car and need to take out the engine to investigate issues.

They said since im working with Subaru of america and that I have 1 year warranty for the replaced shortblock, they will cover it under that and take out the engine from the bay to investigate and fix any possible issues witnessed.

I go home on the LIRR to BK and take MTA to home(3 hours). Yes no loaner but I got offered $40/day rental from subaru of america but a rental is 90 dollars with personal insurance coverage PER DAY. IM NOT PAYING 1500 PER MONTH. (90-40=50 DOLLARS PER DAY TIMES 30 DAYS EQUALS 1500 FOR 30 DAYS)

I have perfect driving record, no tickets no nothing and have had my license for 9 years now.

They did find issues and said they ordered parts.

I should be getting my car back this Thursday, least Subaru of america can do is compensate my monthly car payments for the last 7 months and then Ill HAPPILY SELL THIS PIECE OF WORK FOR THE LOWBALLED PRICE OF 14.8K. I HOPE I CAN SKIP AND DANCE ON PUBLIC STREETS AND NO MORE PROBLEMS WHEN I GET MY CAR BACK ON THURSDAY. I will be happy the day I will sell this car and get SOME OF MY MONEY BACK.

Im never going to buy a subaru again

This HAS CHANGED MY WHOLE LIFE YOU GUYS HAVE NO CLUE. I will be buying a motorcycle and doing a round the world trip with it.

2013 automatic subaru BRZ, bought it brand spankin new

-Dalli

Will update when I get my car back and negotiate compensation( I reallllllllly hope I dont have to fight for this)

Also I want to state something about my subaru brz,

I drove many 1000's of a miles in days and been through many snowstorms(spending up to 5 hours per storm on average). I have spent many times up to 15 hours driving my car at times.

IT has gotten me to point A to B with no problems no hiccups. All I had was a tapping noise and when they hacked into my engine bay the car has been having complications since.

I loved it so much, I stalked this website in 2009 and joined finally on 2010 because I knew I was going to buy this car.

EDIT::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::1/30/2017

I got a call on thursday(missed call) 1/27/2017, I called back 4 minutes of the missed call. Straight to voicemail and i left a message that I was calling back.

No one called me back, i called today 1/30th/2017 around late morning and told me manager will call me back, 2-3 hours later no one did so. I called again, a different person picked up and I was left on hold for 25 minutes finally speaking to the person in charge of repairs.

Summary of before: I left the car in their hands with no check engine light but they said they want to pull the engine and check things out and later found out issues that need to be repaired with new parts(no clue what issues).

Person told me today, they fixed the car up and put it for a road test and check engine light came up. They readjusted the timing to road test again but CEL came up again and im sure back to baseline but with a CEL.

No ETA on whats going to happen, i kept insisting that keep the car and give my money so this cant be a headache for me. (like come on, am i a full time car caretaker?) Told me that they are in charge of repairs.

What steps can I take to make them keep the car and disconnect my life from it?

Also the only thing the corporate subaru of america manager keeps telling me via emails IS THAT we need to wait for repairs to finalize before we move on. By my engineering mathematics this would mean I would be an old man with no hair with type 2 diabetes.

How many miles were on the call when you first started having the problem?

tapping noise which didnt have any performance issue was around 11k miles but brought in the car @ 25k miles before 3 years was up on warranty because it got a lot worse @ idle

@ 11k miles, they said its normal dont worry about it its a subaru.

sounds 100% like this

[ame="https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qIlHnd39iHU"]Scion FRS, Subaru BRZ, Toyota GT86 engine rattle noise after warmed up. - YouTube[/ame]

in the comment the person who uploaded this said he replaced vacuum pump

automatic brz/frs has 2 vacuum pumps, the noise passenger side is exactly where the pump is.
Noise would go away when depressing the brake pedal couple of times(enough to hear air whistling) and the tapping noise goes away

but nope they changed short block and now has problems that never been there lol while still retaining the tapping noise

So your saying that the noise that made them change the short block (which then started your nightmare) was likely just coming from the passenger side vacuum pump?

I have the same noise as in the video but not as loud. It happens if I do a restart when the engine is hot and then let it go to idle. Noticed it 10K miles ago but nothing more serious has happened.

The vacuum pump knock on the ATs is well documented. Only remember one guy that had any actual issue with it other than the noise though.

Not if they watch TV:

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bait_Car_(TV_series)

And HOLY SHIT!
"The program's pilot eposide was called "Negro Trap." After introduction at the New Orleans cable content provider's convention under that name, protests came from the NAACP whose board of directors stated that some of the suspects are Hispanic. From that point the show was renamed. It retains the name "Negro Trap" in Asian and South American syndication."

Really? The NAACP's only argument was "some of the suspects are Hispanic"?

Reminds me of the story about the guy that broke down on the Whitestone Bridge (NYC area). He hitched a ride, got the parts he needed and his buddy brought him back to his car. As they were leaning under the hood, fixing the car, another car pulled up behind them and two guys jumped out.

As one of them slid under the dash, the other said to the two men, "go ahead and finish taking whatever you are after under the hood, we're just after the stereo".

Yeah when I had the noise, it was just annoying and car was working fine with no hiccups. I took it in as a concerned owner and... you all know what happened

Yep, it usually occurs when the engine has been running for a bit and hot

That happened on an episode. Dude walked up, grabbed the keys and threw them on a roof. Not sure how "real" the whole show was anyway though the write ups say it was.

So if you only take the keys, it isn't grand theft auto. Maybe petty theft at best. If they could find you at all, would they even do anything to try to prosecute you?
