That was my solution! I may look into editing the lookup table some day - just because it would be fun.

No danger whatsoever as far as I am concerned. Purely cosmetic, and I have never had a manual before that showed gear on the dash - so I am perfectly happy turning the display off. Speedometer and tachometer are correct - they are what matter!!!

After a week of positive temperatures and a lot of rain, and being in storage for a few months, I had to take it out for drive. Felt great to be behind the wheel again.

Sourced from amazon and epoxied in place. Good contact on inside upper surface. Filled interior of adapter with construction adhesive. They won't fall off!
Outside upper gaps filled with JB Weld steel stick to prevent twisting. Touched up with black paint. One of my pinch welds was mostly collapsed (lazy shop.)

Actually did this Saturday, but took the car in for its first scheduled maintenance just shy of 4k miles. Oil and filter, a once over confirming everything is still pretty much as fresh as it was 3 months ago, and topped off (kinda excessively) my coolant because it was at the Low mark when cold, and I've been smelling coolant frequently after drives lately. Other than that and a "How's it in the snow?" from the service rep, not a bad first visit. I'll be sending off a sample of my oil for analysis soon. I'm interested to see how much junk is in the break-in oil.
