Hope all goes well for you, I'm shopping for a header as well so I'll be taking a similar risk.
Yeah that is true. Making me have second thoughts about getting UEL lol.

• If you're running an OFT, you're not taking full advantage of the catted header, because you still need to run a Stage 1 tune. The catted UEL doesn't flow well enough for Stage 2. I went with a custom ECUTek tune, and I feel a lot more confident having a tune that was done specifically for my car.
Why dont you change out your stock fp. Since your ultimately running two cats. Which might of caused the issue with OFT. I'm running the same setup sans the catted header and a straight invidia fp.

I have a custom OFT tune for my FT86SF catted header. works great and still cheaper/easier than ECUTek for an N/A car. the biggest difference over the stage 2 tune is that the custom tune has is more power up top. because of the header the stage 2 tune was running a little rich at the upper end of the RPMs.

How much extra is the custom tune?

You have to talk to Shiv. It depends on set-up. @Sypher was helping out Shiv so it was free

OFT - $500 (+ tax and shipping, if applicable) - or used for $400.
Custom OFT Tune - $245 (price listed on their website. Could take a few weeks per other forum members).
Total: $645-790

Delicious Flash and Go Tune with license - $600. Logs were typically examined same day or next day. They did 3 revisions until it was perfect. Neal at @TheRacersLine provided the dongle and cable, and did the logs.

Of course with the OFT you can resell and get $375 back from your investment. So the net is about $300 cheaper. For me, doing the street tune with Neal and Delicious was worth the extra money because it's totally dialed in for my car, was done in person, and I learned a lot during the experience.

Not having to buy a cord when shops have them is a huge savings. I like my OFT but at the same time know the tune isnt perfect (for my car at least). But I also like the data viewing feature with OFT so I can still stream music on my phone. I guess i could go back to burning CDs or a slim USB stick and run Torque app again.

If your in california i believe any change to exhaust emmiss il ns systems eg cats is illegal.

Another option if you have e85 stations near by is just retune for e85 fuel on a completly stock car.

You will get about 20 hp increase likly more than with catted header and petrol especially cali 91 and no physical mods required ie car llòoks stock

You could use oft and reflash or go ecutek with map switching tune

E85 is not available in my area as far as I know. I'd rather not depend on a type of fuel that isn't readily available in my area. And technically my q300 is already "illegal".

Catted UEL headers

Looking for some catted uel headers for my 2017 brz. Budget is around $800 and getting it tuned by an ecutek tuner. Reason for ecutek and not OFT is because i’m looking to go forced induction down the road. Also is getting a cat less header illegal in texas?
