It's a lot of money and isn't how I would go about making the power but it is good for the market to have options. A 2.4l with the 12.8:1 compression is not a bad place to start an all out NA build with no expense spared. Better intake and exhaust manifolds, cams and a good tune would surely get you close to 300hp.

I totally agree but given that the engine package costs around NZ$70,000 it is even more reliant on the lottery win.

Most of that cost sounds like recouping R&D. Those are some purrdy machines to pay for.

If I remember correctly it was 3 to 4 seconds slower than most SC or Turbo cars, and on par with NA applications. So it was basically $70k to have a car that sounds like a bike.
