It's a regional incentive. Subaru buyers in the Orlando Region get a Subaru Added Security 2 year Maintenance Plan for free. Covers all the routine maintenance up to the 22,500 mile service. It doesn't apply to all regions in the U.S., check with your local dealer.

All the electrics and technology in the car are Toyota (Denso). So for recoding lost keys, engine trouble codes, ABS etc a Toyota technician maybe more familiar.

If the engine starts leaking oil at the cam box, then Subaru technicians maybe familiar with this (Impreza / Forester ...)

I can confirm I got it free down in Miami too, was surprised, the salesman never even mentioned it. Actually when I got the letter, I scrambled through my papers to double check I was not ripped off and bought it unknowingly.

While Denso is part of the Toyota Group, Subaru has been using Denso components. The Subaru ECUs are all Denso, AFAIK. They're more of a Bosch (everywhere) than an AC Delco (GM).

If you have a problem with your new Toyota, you need to take it to the Toyota dealer to have them fix it, if its in warantee period. If you have a problem with your new Subaru, you can't go to Toyota for a warantee claim.

But any workshop can do the service, or retail repair.

It's pretty much the same in the US as well. Take it to the dealer for warranty work, but you can take it anywhere for maintenance or after warranty repairs.

Most dealers will work on any car, they aren't going to turn down your money, and they do work on used cars in their own lot after all.

I usually go to an independent shop for most work that I don't do myself though.
