And most of the time cyde.....When it comes to a Scion.....they see Badge first and it's the Badge that gives them that ego complex of...."It's just a Scion, those fuckers are slower than dog shit". Followed up with
"That's a fucking Scion, how the hell is it that fast, must be a built motor, built this, built that..." all the while the block is stock...![]() One of the reasons why I don't debadge my ride, cause they are pissed mostly because they lost to a Scion, not because they just lost. It's a Scion to them, so they never expect it. Happened to me with the 2010 Mustang GT and the RoushSupercharged Mustang GT guys. Since I was leaving them at the track, they thought...Scion's are super slow, so his must have ever mod possible on it because I'm in a Mustang and he's kicking my ass. Only to find out that I'm running stock everything power wise (150whp at most right now). Wasn't until after that, did they realize my driving > their driving. |

hey i'm not bent out of shape at all you just made it sound like WE'D be bent out of shape because of YOUR scion. i honestly wouldn't care less. just like you said, if you beat me at the track, i would wonder how you'd did it, wonder what's under the hood and give you respect for it. i still don't care for the brand but that's what i'd do.

I was speaking in general that Aftermarket > Factory, so I welcome the thought of there being a "Lower" cost version for the Scion line, so I can build it to my specs. This all maters based on the engine platform chosen though. If it isn't mod worthy, which would go against what Scion is about, then I would go ahead and get the Toyota version. It would spark a good conversation amongst enthusiast, not a ploy to say "Ha ha...you bought a higher dollar one of the same car and got whooped". I'm not a jerk/ahole like that. Not trying to convince anyone to buy the Scion version. Just saying what "I" would do should such an opportunity presented itself. Don't see there being a Scion version anyway. For me it's going to be the base model regardless. After having the Touring Ed. 350z and upgrading stuff regardless, it was stupid to have not just went with the base model 350z for cheaper. |

I myself would be tempted to get the highest most upgraded version...
... and then upgrade it more.

Yeah true that. And it would work out fine if the higher model somehow excluded the base model from ever achieving what it can. But that's not the case because trim levels don't separate the core part of the vehicle (it's chassis and power plant). They just take out little shit that don't matter...i.e. Base model 350z didn't have an LSD, Bose stereo...etc. and the Track model came with a factory LSD, Bose, Brembo Brakes, VDC and traction control..etc, in the end the Base model had Aftermarket brake, Diff...etc upgrades that were better than factory Brembo, or even better, Brembo coming out with a package for the base 350z. Traction control makes your car slower, so for the track you would turn that shit off anyway. See what I'm getting at...Trim levels make no sense to a person who wants to upgrade anyway, unless that trim level distinctly excludes the base from every acquiring what it has, like a completely different engine that isn't worthy of being pushed to the limit. If it's just a separation of one being boosted and the other not, but the engine is the same internally....then give me the N/A one and I'll boost it myself. |

With the amount they pushed the motor back, an H6 variant (Lexus?) would be completely plausible, without worrying too much about balance issues.

That would never happen though Dragonitti..... If they came out both using the same motor but one N/A and the other running Boost the boosted version would be running much stronger internals and probably a different head, camshaft setup......... I presume in that case u would get the boosted version but if not and opted to boost the N/A urself ur gonna be spending a fair bit of money strengthing the block for that boost, not to mention the possibility that the boosted version has an upgraded diff and then there will always be re-sale value having the lower end model N/A boosted or not its still be the N/A model..... I think it will be released in 2 or 3 versions... Base package, possible upgraded sports special or wateva then the premium model with turbo....... Turbo being forged internals.... I personally will go for that then just start upgrading turbo, fuel pump, coilovers, castor rods, swaybars etc and go nuts from there.... If it doesnt go down like that and there is no turbo model released in the beginning then yeah ill do what u do kinda, Get the N/A and boost myself but at any stage if toyota upgrade to a turbo model ill be replacing all my handling goodies back to stock, trading in, getting the new turbo model and starting from scratch again...... |
