1- lexus ft86 (say turbo 2.5L, 300hp and ~$32K) 2- toyota ft86 (NA 2.0L, 200hp and ~$22K) 3- Scion ft86 (NA 2.0L, 160hp and ~$19K) 4- last subaru ft86 (turbo 2.5L, 260hp and ~$25K) then every one will be happy to pick which ever they like, right? in this case I'd go for the subaru ft86 :happy0180:

Rumours here in Australia says, 2 variants... Non-Turbo (slots in where Celica used to be) $45-$55K AUD. 200hp (147kW) Competition: GTI, Civic Type R, Renault Megane basically the HOT hatches, NOT Subaru branded... (WRX has 195kW, 250+ hp)
So same power output as previous Integra Type R and Nissan Sylvia (S15/200SX) S-Spec Non-Turbo.... The Miata (MX-5) has 130kW (180hp) but its smaller and lighter... the Automatic (AT) RX-8 also has around 150kW (205khp)... The second variant, is Turbo charge.... probably direct port of the new WRX turbo engine... which puts it at 195kW (250 hp)... which makes it compete with the 370Z, Golf R, Mazda RX-8 (MT), Subaru WRX, Mazda 3 MPS, Subaru WRX STi, EVO X, BMW 135, Audi S3i etc.... but less power than those cars. The price range?.... close to 370Z, maybe between 60K to 70K AUD. Again these are from rumours locally and from discussions with fellow people who have heard various rumours around. Sources ranging from Toyota Marketing, Salesmen, Car Magazines... and the web.. But again, those were heard before from Australian sources... just refreshing... |

Those prices are gonna kill it in the oz.. I have a feeling they are not far from truth. Here's to hoping the top model in oz will b in the top 50s rather than competing with the z price in the 70s..
Here is what I think: salesmen don't know shit when it comes to future prices and Toyota hasnt released anything. And for 60 I'd rather get the next rx model Or seeing how it's gonna b lagging release in oz il import a jdm one for peanuts

And I would surely buy the Scion one, boost it, and destroy the other two. since the Scion version would have less amenities equating to less weight...hehee. Add my own LSD, own suspension upgrade and when all said and done, would have spent the extra dough into the car making it equal in cost to what the other ones cost on the sticker price. Same amount of money spent, except mine would be leaps and bounds faster. Aftermarke > Factory....![]() Bet that would piss off quite a few who bought the higher $ one so they could have it say Toyota/Subaru on it and didn't leave any left over to upgrade things. Quote:

^^I don't plan on buying the car until it's been out for at least a year, so I can see what complaints and quirks there are.
Only thing I would have to wait on would be suspension mods. Forced Induction can be built pretty easy by a competent company. A piggy back ECU will take some time to develop or you could go the expensive route and get a Universal Standalone (but that is an automatic Emissions fail). And just for the charts and to clear up HP/TQ figure estimations. The 2005-2010 Scion tC = 160hp/163tq The 2011 Scion tC = 180hp/179tq So, it makes not sense that a "Scion" version of the FT86 would have only 160 or 170hp. Should be at least 180hp (since the best move would be a cross platform borrow from the tC/Camry). |

I doubt they make Lexus version. Even if they do, it will be too heavy and expensive. My speculation is, Lexus would better stick with V6 powered sport car rather than H4( unless it's light even in Lexus variant). I know force induction will do the trick, but I don't see how they fit in the line up. Every single Lexus is NA(except hybrid with electric help).
My guess is if they make a Lexus variant and it's light. It will be 1990s all over again(SC300 successor?). Anyway, I also want Lexus Variant. ![]()

It wouldn't be like "Who fucking cares" since I'm not the one who initiates races on the street. I mind my own business. Spend my time at the track. If you are at the track with me....you are going to wonder..."Why is this guy in the lower version...spanking my ass". And you are going to want to know what's done to it. If you don't then whatever, but most people scratch their heads as they get passed by the Scion when they are driving something like an S2k. And curiosity not because you are pissed about it, but just good pure enthusiast conversations I get into when I'm at the track. We help each other out, and learn from one another. Don't get bent out of shape guys....no hard feelings. I'm just a builder rather than a buyer. As Aftermarket > Factory, so I enjoy going that route. If we are just cruising on the street and I come across the "higher" end version, I would just wave or something. If I come upon one that's the "higher" cost version and he wanted to run against my "lower cost - modded version", and I do happen to go that route, I'm not an asshole about it. I probably would have a friendly conversation after the race to give and get ideas with the guy/gal that I just ran. So, just calm down...lol. |
