What annoys me more than anything else in the wet is the morons who drive rediculously slow and have their flashers on... Currently stopped for the night in Tallahassee, FL because just bought a new vehicle in North Carolina (near Raleigh area, flew in at noon) and am driving it back home. Only saw one moron with hazards on this evening, if it were Houston, half the cars on the road would have their flashers on and half of those would also be driving crazy.... LOL
My speed on I10 from Jacksonville to Tallahassee varied from 80+mph to ~50mph according to how much rain there was... and rainfall varied from none to wipers being absolutely useless even on max levels. I love driving in the wet, but I've had a long day and it's time to stop driving for now so I can rest up and continue in the morning...

Around here in winter, I see as many vehicles in the ditch on nice, sunny days as I do in bad weather. Imagine it, blue skies, dry, clear road, your barreling along at or above the speed limit, round a nice sweeping turn and oh shit! Blowing snow has left a greasy white slick across the apex. After that it's ass end or front end in the ditch.
For people driving slow in the rain, centered in the lane, death grip on the wheel, I am the guy passing you while yelling, "Drive on the f$%king crowns!" |

Exactly, you can always get a ticket for driving too fast for conditions. You don't have to be going over the speed limit to get a ticket. I always try to keep in mind that driving on the roads is a privilege not a right.

I also love driving in the rain, and not just short jaunts. A bit of adversity helps me feel more engaged with my surroundings.

i was hoping to get a rise out of @Tcoat but he didn't buy into it lol
but in all seriousness. the best thing to do is drive slower and more importantly within your skills. you can have a rally spec car in the snow and still crash it going 20mph because you dont know how to drive. i have nearly half a million miles logged between my cars driving all over the states in all conditions. i drive all seasons because they cover most of the conditions i MAY encounter and will provide around 80% of the performance of a dedicated seasonal tire. living in texas its possible to see basically all seasons and all weather conditions within a 48 hour time period. :/ it iced over friday in north texas and dear god the amount of people who wrecked themselves and upon semi-close inspection while driving by accidents i could tell that almost all of them were on either cheap tires or basically bald tires. plenty of camaros with summer tires stuck on bridges unable to move forward lol.

I don't like nor dislike driving in the rain or the snow or the dark or the wind or the fog or any other condition. They all just take a very minor change in driving style and method. It isn't like I have to think "Oh, the roads are wet I better slow down" I just slow down and that is that. If anybody finds driving in different conditions to be causing them "adversity" then they just haven't done it enough. I honestly don't even understand how driving in the rain is a topic of conversation for these cars. You would think that everybody is driving a bloody Hellcat for all the concerns that come up.

LOL I fully understand that. That doesn't mean they need to be afraid of some rain. Some make it out that the second the road gets a little damp all the light RWD cars start spinning toward the ditch unless you are some sort of driving god.
