Catted UEL Header Suggestions?

As the title says, I am looking for catted UEL headers in the coming months. Why catted you ask? To eliminate the chance of a CEL coming up. No tune available for the 2017 yet from what I've researched. And I will only have funds available for one.

I've seen brands such as JDL, and FT86SF, but there are others such as Arm Motorsports that I haven't seen any reviews for. Budget is ~$900.
The help is greatly appreciated. Thank you.

I have the JDL catted header and love it, fitment was great. If you can shell the extra cash get the ceramic coating, it's insane how you can touch the pipes 20 minutes after driving without burning yourself, while other parts of your upper engine bay are still hot.

I ended up getting a CEL though that came and went occasionally. Eventually got an OFT which turns the CEL light off as part of the tune

Go catless and get tune. Catless header are a bit cheap and those cash saved use it to buy the tune. If you wait a little you can save up when vendors do the "tax seasson" sales.

FT86speedfactory makes a catted UEL as well.

Here's the link and take a look at those videos in the description section -- http://www.ft86speedfactory.com/ft86...l#.WHHsDFMrKHs

I have the FT86 catted UEL... it's a quality piece for sure and after Openflash the car runs very smooth. Didn't really help the sound though... very little rumble.

To follow up: I have a JDL UEL with the thermal coating.
• Fit and finish are nice.
• $1000 with the coating and lifetime warranty. Tough to beat.
• With a Perrin 2.5" resonated catback and stock front pipe, the sound inside the car got a little bit less bassy. There's a little bit of rumble. The car doesn't seem louder on the inside. The sound is different, but mellower than I expected. Even at 75 mph on the freeway.
• My highly respected tuner seemed surprised that the catted UEL didn't flow more. I haven't been on the dyno, but this led me to believe the gains are quite a bit less than uncatted.
• If you're running an OFT, you're not taking full advantage of the catted header, because you still need to run a Stage 1 tune. The catted UEL doesn't flow well enough for Stage 2. I went with a custom ECUTek tune, and I feel a lot more confident having a tune that was done specifically for my car.

Thanks for the input. Main reason why I want a catted header is to reduce the chance of a CEL. Kind of going out on a limb by doing so. Car is still under warranty, but would rather not bring it in for service with a CEL, let alone a custom tune.

Looking to hear experience from those that didn't get a CEL with catted header and no tune.

I'd just enjoy the car as-is. Running a header without a tune seems kind of pointless.

But later down the line I would get the tune. Just revert back to stock when getting serviced. Not gonna get everything at once.

grab yourself some catless headers, if your car is manual K00C rom i posted up a couple of tunes with the P0420 cel code disabled, to get you through till the stage2 tunes are released by oft guys

http://www.ft86club.com/forums/showp...5&postcount=19

if you get oft you can always flash back to 100% stock if you need to.

The dealer will notice the header way easier than going looking for tunes.

The calibration id will still read the same as stock, they would need to look up the CVN (checksum) values for the srock rom and compare them, extremly unlikely they would do this at a standard service.
