My mind blocks it for me. Notice it for about two days after switching to the winter tires and then it just becomes "normal" and I don't see it anymore. When I change back to summers in the spring I spend about two days wondering what is wrong and then get used to it being off. If you can get past that first little bit it no longer becomes an issue.

Here's a funny thing. I swapped my summer wheel to my winter wheels a couple of weeks ago. I had the summer wheels with the TPMS in my friend's garage and the winter wheels don't have sensors in them. The light didn't come on,which I kind of expected because I swapped them right in his driveway, but after I pulled away, the light never came on,and still hasn't. I didn't do this mod so I have no idea why isn't not working, especially since it did work last winter.

Mine have been sitting on my back porch and when I park in the driveway my car is close enough to "see" the sensors. So the light goes out each day I take the car to work (58 mile commute one way). After about 20 miles or so the light comes on. Park again and next time I start the car light goes out.

This is why I'm been disagreeing with folks that these sensors need to rotate to function. If I hadn't just put new tires on my stock wheels, I would have removed the sensors and done the pipebomb mod.

So how does parking near your old wheels with the TPMS installed work if the sensors must have movement to activate? If they are just sitting there in the old wheels they aren't moving.

The light goes out without being anywhere near the sensors when it's parked and off....anywhere. My wife and I took her FRS on a little road trip last weekend on wheels without her sensors and the light came on a little while into the trip.

We parked the car at a hotel and there was no light when we started it in the morning.....a little bit into the drive home the light comes back on, as expected.

I assume the sensors are powered by a battery of some kind and probably use centrifugal force to activate a switch. Otherwise the batteries would waste power constantly transmitting useless information when the car is parked, and know one cares. The car itself doesn't seem to expect a signal from the sensors when the car is first turned on or even when the car first starts moving. Some period of time (and possibly miles?) can pass without a signal before the light comes on.

I keep seeing people saying that the tpms being on doesn't affect the ability to turn off traction control. But since my tpms light has turned on it automatically turned TC on and I can no longer shut it off.

Are you using some kind of tune? Oft or something else

Traction control automatically turn back on if you go over a certain speed (approx 35mph). Not related to TPMS. However, the stability control (VSC), is suppose to stay off.
