It's just response to post prior that.

For what its worth, I would dare to say that my TRD springs on NT01 have outperformed every other 86 at my local track (minus a few individuals), with similar performance mods. Other cars were equipped with similar grippy tires, but were on other coilovers like RCE Tarmacs, RSR, BC Racing, Tein, and other Taiwan made coilovers. Lap times don't lie
Different drivers have different skills. And often THAT is main difference (hence mentioned comparison of most probable results of me vs. someone skillful, eg. HPDE instructors, no matter what mods installed). So "Lap times don't lie" was brought as proof to what? That TRD springs will outperform RCE Tarmacs/Billsteins/STs/KWs/Teins if with same driver just because he has driven faster then cars equipped with those?
Yes, springs have great price/performancy. Yes, there are lot of crappy (even worse then stock) coilover offerings at the very lowest end. But it's not all there is. There are reasonable offerings that can give more improvement then springs can, especially if comparison is between cars/parts, leaving variable of driver out. And there are individuals that posted improvements to laptimes after those other upgrades aswell.

Thanks for the info.

It seems like the consensus between most members is you either go quality springs ( Eibach/ TRD , or RCE) , for DD or occasional track day. = $300 parts cost here).

Go coil over to get adjustable ride height (and if you track your car a lot this could be a beneficial way to go), lower cost end seems to be $850- 1050 ,....then to get top end coilover it's pretty much $2k to $2500 ( the in between $1100 to $2k....lots of dollar range in there, with what looks to be a slight bit better performance over a $1000 set (would mainly get a rebuildable unit).

I am leaning towards just RCE springs ....my OE struts will have low milage/ time on them.

Then just get some Koni yellows later down the road. Or buy some buy and you'll always have a fresh set of struts when the koni go bad. And by then you'll be older possibly wanting something softer like oem

I'd probably prefer Billsteins (also having struts usable with stock springs) to Koni yellows. From what i've heard, yellows can be told almost only good only about them except one thing, they may come greatily mismatched in set. So unless you buy them from few places ordering them in big batches and known to individually select matching sets from those batches, i'd prefer billsteins as safer choice.
