We've had six dogs (three Shepherds, one coydog, one retriever mix, and one Chihuahua) and they were all great friends; loved every one of them, although a few had their challenges. The coydog was very independent and hated most other dogs, but was fine and friendly w/ all people and cats. Weird. He and I kind of grew up together; I got him when I was 18 or 19, and he lived 17 years.

We've also had a ton of cats, including a time when we bred Siamese cats. At one time we were up to thirteen living with us; the parents, one batch of adolescent "teenage" kittens, and a fresh batch at four or five weeks old. THAT was a handful. We don't have any cats any more, and I've gotta confess I'm not a big fan of cats in general. Having said that, there were three that if I could have back again, I'd take again in a heartbeat; two of the male Siamese were really fun, interactive, non-aloof, semi-dog-like creatures. My favorite cat of all time was an all-black half Siamese mix; he had that sleek, tall Siamese build and long face, so he looked like a miniature black panther. His best characteristic, though, was that he totally WAS a dog at heart. Fetched, followed you everywhere, came when you called him, would go for walks with us, played outside with us.. he was a RIDICULOUS cat, and I mean that in the best way possible. When I went to the neighborhood ASPCA to see who needed rescuing, I saw this black kitten hanging upside down from the top of his cage and thought, "Now, THERE'S something that looks at life like I do!" I brought him home, he promptly ran up the Christmas tree, knocked it over, and thereby named himself. Grinch has been gone many years, but I still miss him. He was the first cat that made me realize that there ARE great cats out there. Never found another one like him, but the two male Siamese came close.

EVERY female cat we have had, w/out exception, has been psychotic. I have no use for female cats. Have no idea why that would be, but it's been our experience.

One of the two male Siamese we had was a dead ringer for this guy...

Thanks, UM... but it stayed the same size.. 1.7Mb. Of course, it's entirely possible I have no idea what I'm doing; never used imgur. I tried using the embed code in my previous post, but the code appeared rather than pic, so I replaced it with a simple link. Care to hold my hand further through the process? Sure wouldn't mind learning a bit more about this stuff..
