Thanks in advance

You can try the TRD intake. Here is a review: http://www.ft86club.com/forums/showp...&postcount=701

No it is not the same filter. Not even close. They totally changed the size.

More then quadruppled filtration area? Should be less resistive. Hmm, though then again it's fabric vs filter paper, no clue how they fare against each other. Maybe more filtration area is almost completely offset by more airflow resistance of used material.

Thanks. Sure I could try it, but it is a $350 or so part. Most users seem to like it , but given the cost not so sure it's worth it. Other members here say do the K&N drop in, and call it a day (most cost/benefit)

I know the header makes the most significant boost NA, going zero-65 mph so there isn't any short changing that part. Other parts are minimal change in performance, 2-6 hp/torque. On top of that, if I am changing out 3-4 bolt on intake/exhaust parts , then it sounds worth while to also get some basic tune after parts are installed to maximize performance benefits (tune for more hp , or mpg , etc)

I stand corrected! I looked at the sizes of the box and it looks like they are the same size.

Anyone know what the best performing single exit exhaust for the 86 is?
Right now I'm using the HKS Racing single exit, want to see if there's any better performing.

Sound noise isn't an issue, chasing max power.
I'll be changing to ACE header next year, either the A250 or the Anaconda 42.7mm.

If you're after real gains a tune is mandatory.

Your post made me realize i need to buy aftermarker inlet tube (perrin or mishimoto) and drop in filter (non oiled) ASAP.

Cat-back? As long as it's 2.25" or bigger, I don't think it matters. You're not going to see a noticeable difference between your HKS and anything else. The header and front pipe are where the major restrictions are. Header/front pipe/tune for power; cat-back for sound. That said, a free-flowing single exit canister exhaust with a catless header and catless front pipe is going to be louder than hell.

93 octane. tuner told me that i could easily get 200+ whp with e85 but theres no pumps around me unfortunately.... or i would jump right on it lol.

the biggest kicker was the tune. i drove on that setup for a few hundred miles (clearing the P0420 every time it came up lol!) and once i got it tuned it was like night and day difference

Yep! People think they can just bolt stuff on and get instant power. The car doesn't know it is there and self tune to take advantage of the changes. It needs to be told to change all the perimeters so that the parts actually make a difference.
