That's accurate there.

On the real, the last time I was on a dirt bike was about 12 or 13 years ago. Motorcycle, 3 or 4 years ago.

I'm leaning towards a Yamaha or a honda, mostly because there are local shops (near home, and the cottage). Only thing is that I'm not exactly sure what displacement to get? I was thinking a 250? Really I just want to be able to keep up with the old man. He has a 600 atv, so I guess a 250 would be enough?

I am going to give straight up advice. Even if she never gave you the impression that she's close to her family, she has every right to be insulted that you didn't consider the possibility. Doubling down and dismissing her objection easily would be the final straw.

If you care about the relationship, take this as a teaching moment. If you can accept the err in judgement, tell her. Both of you deserve it.

Especially if an invitation to said Christmas with family had already been extended and accepted... the whole thing wreaks of "you don't really matter to me as a person" so I'm not surprised at the outcome. The language used to describe the incident also smells of "not a person" so... that's probably years of conditioning to overcome.

Forever being the optimist, until we hear more from Cole, I disagree. My guess is what came off sounding like apathy was more pride. He's sharing a lot publicly here.

I'm hoping it was a youthful attempt at chivalry that went sideways.
