I had an inspector look at 2 Scions with rebuilt title. He found a couple of minor things but says the body work is flawless, looks almost new. Price is at least $5000 less than a comparable car with clean title. There are 2 problems, however, with buying one of these or any other rebuilt title car: 1) difficult if not impossible to buy full coverage insurance, and 2) factory warranty is void on a car with rebuilt title.
I'm actually not clear on how an insurance company even checks for rebuilt title. My insurer has a website with a "Add a New Vehicle" button, click, type in VIN, answer a couple of questions (none involving title), and out pops a quote. Click on Accept and the car is added to the policy. Maybe the insurer checks the vehicle history at some subsequent point? |

Go for a clean title - just my two cents. They are very safe cars even in major accidents as seen by other threads like the one I linked, however not sure how the structure would hold after being rebuilt by a 3rd party. |

We have a winner
I bought a rebuilt 2016 FR-S from PLK Auto Sales in Orlando. Had it checked by a mechanic, works great, looks brand new, price was at least $7000 than a comparable vehicle with clean title. I was able to get insurance. My son and I are thrilled to have this nice car, we will be taking it to the SoFlo meet up at Markham Park this Sunday. I'm familiar with the risks of cars with rebuilt title but I'm feeling pretty confident atm (knock on wood).
Paul and his team at PLK are real pros, they are now rebuilding 6 other FR-S's and BRZ's in their shop, easy to deal with. |

UGH, is that hood popped? If not, that gives good reason not to buy a rebuilt title car

It depends on the nature of the accident and the repairs done to the car, not all of us here want to finance a car or either some of us here have the knowledge and resources to restore the car you know anyway rebuild/salvage is not for everyone proper research on where it was hit in the first place is key and the parts replaced. http://www.ft86club.com/forums/showthread.php?t=110502 ayyyypex FR-S is a good example of a rebuild car done right ![]() Look at the bright side at least us rebuild/salvage folks are doing our part in resurrection wrecked ones ya know
