I remember reading a BC cartoon (almost the same time ago) that went something like this:
BC says to Peter "Is it better to give or receive?" and Peter replies "Receive because if you don't like it you can give it away."

By similar rationale there is Thanksgiving (whatever that is) over there so there must be thanks receiving as well.

Thanksgiving was a celebration of not dying all year started by early North American settlers.


In Canada it is earlier and is only one day where we eat a bunch of stuff then go back to normal the next day.


In the US it precedes Black Friday where all the settled attempt to kill each other over TV and toys.


I am thankful I do not have to deal with the US version.

Could you imagine if we suddenly lost our public infrastructure? Even the homeless take advantage of modern amenities to some extent. We really have no idea of the meaning of true hardship.
