Brought my car in around 9:40am today. They ended up calling Subaru Tech Service around 4 and never got a call back so I'll have to make another appointment to leave my car there. They will be giving me a loner car Incase they do actually find anything wrong.
At this point in time they think it's an upper valve train issue.

Update
They think its actually a bearing in my brake vacuum pump going bad so they are going to be replacing that on "goodwill". Bad news, the part is back ordered till the end of January so i will be giving back the loaner car (2017 forester...actually pretty sweet) back until they have the part in.

I'm just glad it's not an issue with the actual engine block, or at least they are pretty sure.
I probably wouldn't push the repair but they are going to cover the repair cost so

Yeah I wonder if my dealer will cover it for me even though I am slightly out of warranty. Too bad the parts on back order. I wonder if this issue is why my car is making slightly less vacuum then it should cuz I was having issues getting the BOV to open I doubt it though haha everything runs fine

Ya. Take your car in and ask for work out of warranty. I dare you! Video the look on the guy's face when he opens the hood though.

Its not a consistent clatter like a rocker would be. It comes and goes too

Alright boys and girls, its time for an update. The part finally came in and i had it installed by Parkway Subaru in Wilmington NC. They actually put it in for free for me because when i originally had the car being looked at i was just outside of warranty range, so i just want to give a big shoutout to them as they have always looked out for me.
So the actual part that they replaced was the Secondary air pump, creates a vacuum at idle and all that jazz.
Did it actually work? Well yes, the noise has completely gone away and now i can breathe again knowing its not a valve train issue or anything like that.

I have the same issue as well. By secondary air pump do you mean the vacuum pump in the Automatics? thanks in advance
