I just put mine in a hard case and throw it in the glovebox or that storage compartment on the driver's side door. My VW had an overhead sunglasses compartment but I honestly rarely used it other than to store a backup set of cheap sunglasses. When they were out of sight like that, I would leave them in there when I was using another car or needing them when I wasn't driving. |

up to speed up down to set up to resume I'm pretty sure that was adopted as a standard like, forever ago. I love where it is placed.

From Ultramaroon:
"down to slow down up to speed up down to set up to resume I'm pretty sure that was adopted as a standard like, forever ago." Well maybe on these Furn cars. I've never owned a Toyota in the past, with a stalk as cruise control function instrument. |

It may be just a case of what you are used to but how on earth does a left and right side movement be more intuitive then an up and down movement for speed? This seems incredibly awkward to me:

Both hands are supposed to be on the steering wheel at all times.
The cruise buttons to be used with one's thumbs. Well, I do admit....I drive almost always with one hand, the left one. Right hand used for radio and hvac controls, gearshift lever, hand brake. Both hands on the steering wheel for curves, sometimes. Love the smallish wheel on my FRS. I'm a person who uses cruise control a lot. Annoys me others don't seem to use it as much as I do. Often finding others, at freeway speeds, constantly changing their speed. Makes it difficult to decide to pass their vehicles or not to do so. Well, that's what driving experience is all about...figuring out what the other guy/gal is doing. Another freeway annoyance. People deciding to pass the vehicle in front of them at the last possible moment, whilst I'm in the fast lane, just behind them. Why don't people look ahead, plan ahead ? Plan your moves in advance if possible. Fortunately I'm not a semi driver. They have it the worst, with idiots in front of them. Some of us recall when the high beam switch was on the floor...to be used with left foot...a great idea which faded in time. And American cars slowly adopted having the headlamps and wipers on stalks, as the Japs had done for years. Possibly a good idea that was. IMHO...Adopting a third stalk next to and below steering wheels for cruise, a very bad idea that was. Never will get used to it...too confusing, three stalks. Edit: 11-19-16, 8:19am PST. Yes, I edited, always do, that's just how I write, constantly editing as I go...LOL. Last edited by ToySub1946; 11-19-2016 at 12:20 PM. |

I spend about 12 hours a week on cruise and agree with you 100%. The high beam on the floor may have been a great idea where the floors never got wet, Between the water and salt around here they usually seized solid within 2 or 3 years. I think the stalks were one of the best things to ever happen but I come from cars where a two inch error in hand position meant you pulled the choke out instead of turned the headlights on.
