I don't want to over spin this blower. This is the limit of the V2 kit, as I know it, unless there is a pulley / restrictor combination to make 12-13psi and not over spin.
HKS USA refused to give me any information regarding pulleys for the V2 Kit also

I am staying at the 100 mm pulley and super safe. If the plan was for huge power would have gone a different route. As it is on days where startup temps are cool enough that it takes 10 minutes for the coolant gauge to centre the needle, I get a squeal from the supercharger as I accelerate. It stops when the temps are high enough I presume, for the traction oil. That is usually the same time the coolant is fully warmed.

Is there any info on issues with the V3 as of yet? How many people have been running them and what mileage have you put on them thus far?

One day. One day, HKS USA, will eventually offer me some support for this product. We're going on 2 years soon but dammit I will win!

I'm not sure what kind of support you are seeking, but I'll gladly answer anything I can. What support is it we're not providing you?

Does anyone have pics of a v3 kit powder coated black?
Also any recommendations for clutch upgrade with this kit? I want to stick to jdm brands. I just want to future proof my car so although initially I can get away with the stock clutch I would like to change it while I'm installing everything else. I think the stock pedal feel is too light so ideally would like it to feel heavier however I drive everyday but rarely in congested traffic. Any help would be appreciated.

At the power level and with the torque curve with regular pulley/fueling you really don't NEED a stronger clutch. At least not for some time anyway.

I should be fine for at least 12 months but with my work schedule I can't guarantee a week to have my car off the road to upgrade my clutch. So in my circumstances it makes more sense to change it while doing everything else and never have to think about it again

OK It's good for the local economy, I guess. The stock clutch seems to handle my setup with no signs of deterioration. Once at the 300 WHP level or higher it's pretty inevitable the clutch will go prematurely. Canada and Australia prices are probably pretty close. Expect over $1000 for a replacement possibly excluding labour.

If you have any interest in sticking with HKS, we do offer a clutch kit for the BRZ/FR-S: http://www.hksusa.com/2013-2015-brz-...on-clutch-kit/

When I called HKS USA, I was running a Version 2 kit with the restrictor bored out to 43mm. I was making 9psi peak and was trying to get some info about the next step. I asked if there was any data of what to expect for boost with the restrictor removed. I asked what was required to run approx 13psi, and I also asked if I was risking over-spinning the blower. I also asked that in the event simply removing the restrictor didn't provide the results I wanted -- what the next step would be. Could I purchase a different pulley? Would it be advisable to run the new pulley and put the restrictor back in? So on etc The response I got was, that of someone completely uninterested in what I was doing and just wanting to sell me a V3 upgrade kit. He explain the V2 being discontinued, not supported, and tried to tell me to just get the V3 kit. When I asked why and what I could gain from it, just vague answers and no figures. I was also (wrongly) told that removing my inlet restrictor would "not do anything at all" "you need to buy a different pulley" "just get the V3 upgrade kit" and then he referred me to the wrong pulley. I was linked to a V3 kit pulley. I also asked which size pulley I'd need for my goal and he had no idea. So -- that's pretty frustrating. I had one of the first V2 kits in the country here and my car is also a rolling HKS bill-board .. we've got HKS product on the shelf here etc I'm currently still running the V2 with upgraded injectors and pump. It's running a peak of 11psi with the restrictor out. The powerband is way to peaky for me so I'm looking to change it up.

You can get more power by removing the restrictor plate, but we don't have data on how much more because it's not something we've tested. There is no pulley upgrade for the V2 kit since it uses a single bolt pulley. My suggestion would be to get the V3 upgrade kit, which will convert it to a 5-bolt pulley. Also, you get a larger inlet pipe that does not use a restrictor. The pulley is larger (110mm), but because of the larger diameter inlet pipe and no restrictor, it actually makes more power at less boost, because the intake temperature is so much cooler. This is because the supercharger doesn't have to work as hard to pull air in with the larger inlet pipe. If that's still not enough power for you, you can then get the V3 upgrade kit that includes a 100mm pulley (5-bolt) which should put you up around 8 or 9psi. That might be about the same as what you're currently seeing, or maybe even less, but again, you should be making much more power because the intake temp will be much cooler than what it is on your V2 kit. The V2 > V3 Upgrade Kit is part number 12002-KK002. It's not on our website, but any HKS Pro Dealer would be able to order this for you. It's $780. Then if you want the upgraded pulley for the V3 kit, it's $360. (12002-KK001) |

And then you will need fuel injectors and fuel pump. Don't forget the spark plugs if you haven't already changed them (should have been done with the supercharger) Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |
