P0017 - installer error? - dealer owes you a new car by now - or at least a new long block and the payment to a competent dealer to have it installed. my word.

they should have done new everything - oil pump - timing chain - (didnt see bearings in that list) -

have them watch this lol [ame="https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MOtYl2k6abI"]Subaru BRZ FA20 oil pump info, tips and traps - YouTube[/ame]

So they said it's the cam sensor. They ordered a new one and told me car is fine keep driving. They did clean the sensor and reset the light. I only drove it home from the dealer, CEL didn't turn on during that time. We'll see what happens during this week.

Going to get the car fully fixed first, thank god for extended warranty or I'd be out a lot of money by now. Then maybe sell. Waiting for response from subaru customer service specifically their lemon dept.

I've been honest on this thread with the chain of events and I think I've been very patient with Subaru. But when this CEL came on after them having the car for majority of time since end of May I really think I'm in my right to pursue some legal action.

Thanks for the support.

At the very least you should be entitled to them covering your car payments for the amount of time that they had it and you weren't able to use it. I don't know how you are going to make that happen but I'd figure out a way because you've been without it for the better part of four months.

Well the cam sensor didn't fix the warning light. They replaced the ECU and I have to pick up the car again.

However there is a loud clicking noise as well which I complained about. It is louder with acceleration. They say there's something with a cylinder? On these forums ppl saying it might be axle issue. I'm not sure what the problem is.

What's irritating me is that they want me to go pick up the car, wait for the cylinder part to come and then bring the car back to them. It's a big waste of time for me to take time from work to get the car to them over and over again, but they're already telling me now I'm going to be charged for the loaner for not picking up the car the day after they switched out the ECU.

Here I was thinking I could keep the loaner until the car was actually fixed.

TL;DR the update is that the car is not fixed lol.

How many times has the dealer attempted a fix? After 3 then it will be time to get your money back through lemon law.

It has definitely been more than 3 attempts. However not sure that lemon law applies at 61k mileage (yes it is a 2014 with 61k miles, had a crazy commute for a year haha)

It's time to higher a lemon law attorney in FL. Consult should likely be free and they should give you an honest opinion if you have a case. Letting the dealer / Subaru drag it out with consultation could get funky if there is any sort of statute of limitations on the lemon law or time period for a filing window under that part of the law.

Again, consult a legal expert. It is time.

Actually, this seems to be a fairly common in the GT-86. Spun rod bearings all over the place. Look it up, you'll find reports everywhere. This just happened to me too, this weekend. Heading to the dealership now, after my engine stopped in the middle of the highway. I looked up problems and sure enough, once I came across a rod bearing failure video, it was the exact same problem. Every video or post I came across that had the exact same issue, it was the same spun rod bearing that caused it.

My car is completely stock with only 49K miles on it. Thankfully it's a lease, so it should all be covered, but this is ridiculous. There should have been a recall with so many experiencing this problem.

In case you want to know what it sounds like, here are some videos:

This is the problem before it is about to go:

Another one before it's about to go:

Driving on it before it completely goes:

This is the problem as it completely fails:

Trying to start it after it has already failed:

The more you know, the more you learn it's a very bad idea to conflate what you see on web forums and youtube with reality.

A tiny percentage gets blown way out of proportion by this phenomenon.
