And should I ever be lucky enough to be in need of an oil change when such a deal is ongoing, I will be happy to take advantage. In the meantime, I do know that oil and a filter was over $100 by the time I walked out of Crappy Tire. I am not one to go shopping based on specials. Got better things to do with my life than care. |

You should be able to buy a OE filter, plus synthetic oil total for about = $35-40 , and DYI. Depending upon how your local small business auto services are, labor to change oil can be as low as $15.... $20 tops , then you don't have to spend the time, get dirty hands, etc. Yeah, Walmart charges about $20 labor for oil changes, but I'd rather patronize a small local mom-pop local service center.

I think he was referring more to maintenance costs between Porsches and Subarus. Still, I feel like this car isn't crazy expensive to keep running when compared to cars like the GTi, ecoboost stang, or Focus ST. The most labor intensive difference is probably the spark plugs and coil packs. |

If that's really what it costs up there, I would buy a set of ramps or jack stands, a fumoto drain valve (like $20 USD) and just start changing your oil yourself. The fumoto drain valve means your oil changes will require no tools. It seriously would require less than 15 minutes of actual work overall. Open valve, let oil drain, close valve, remove filter, clean filter area, install new filter, pour in engine oil, run vehicle for a few minutes, top off as necessary, done. If the oild and filter itself costs around $75, you'll save $25 every oil change by doing 15 minutes of work. I guess you have to just decide if $25 is worth 15 minutes of your time. But realistically, once you factor in the time you'd spend at the shop dealing with the transaction and such, you'd be spending that 15 minutes and more there regardless.

CT usually runs jugs of a different synthetic oil on sale every week. Last weekend they had Pennzoil platinum for $32 for a 5 l jug. The jugs each had a sticker to claim a $10/jug mail in rebate, netting $22+ tx/jug, best price ever. Too bad I lost my receipt! Anyway, I get a few filters from Subaru for both of my cars, roughly $10 ea. The oil change on the weekend cost me roughly $50 total. And I use an EZ Valve on my cars, the generic version of a Fumoto. I am not being cheap, I always use good synthetic 5W30 with Tokyo Roki Subaru filters and typically change at 5000 kms. 0W20 at Toyota is something like $6/L at the parts counter BTW. NOHOME, I don't know why but your posts indicate you aren't the most cheerful guy. Maybe due to homelessness?? LOL

Depends, I guess. I didn't think there was anything wrong with my FR-S's interior. It's still a cheap interior, and if the decision to by an 86 comes down to the interior I have to wonder what Soviet-era wreck a person is driving now.
I do dislike the new steering wheel because it is very slick. And I HATE the head unit. |
