I'm whying your "Why?". I'm confused about that. My windshield got a small rock chip in the corner and decided to crack. It'll get fixed when I get around to it.

Not Trolling: Seriously curious....

How many of you potential buyers have previously owned a car with louvers?

I have owned two different cars with louvers: a 1969 Mustang Mach 1 and a 1978 Datsun 280Z.

As much as I feel the louvers added to the car's appearance (both cars had the louvers when I bought them), I can still remember just how much they rattled, how even with hinges it was awkward to clean the back window, and what a pain it was to clean the louvers themselves...

Of course a lot can change in 30 years...

Don't hold your breath. Even if it was presented to a manufacturer and they agreed to build it TODAY, it would take many MONTHS for it to happen. From design, to working samples, to final production.

$20 bucks says you won't buy/have/install the Trd louvers before the end of the year. You can quote me on that and I will personally drop off the cash.

The question is... did you remove them or did you deal with the hassle?

I didn't really. I pieced it together from sites that listed different area sales (European/US primarily). It took me about 30 minutes of searching, but this was a few months ago and I didn't bookmark the sites because I couldn't find reliable data for all markets.

I did find sites that have the data but you have to pay big bucks for it.

I have - 79 Alfa Romeo Alfetta GT. Louvres are good at keeping the car cooler, which is the only real functional reason to have them. Yes, they used to rattle and buzz, but you can spend a little time fiddling with them and get them tight. Snow is a bit of a pain with them, since it tends to hang on to the louvres, but if they're esy to remove, then I'd just take 'em off for the winter months...you're not really worried about the sun at that point anyways. Older louvres did use big slats, which definitely has a very 70's look to it, but if the new ones used smaller slats like the TRD ones, except aluminum, I think it'd be a sharp look. Not for everyone, but I'd consider a set. I'm assuming these would be a better quality item (no rattles) than something from the 70's, both because they're brand new, and improved production techniques..

Not a fair question... the practice of the day was to use sheet metal screws and poke holes in the roof right in front of the rear window to secure the hinges... Remove the louvers and you had to deal with holes in your roof!

I actually had an rx7 (fc3s) with it. It keep the inside of the car a little colder and on nights if.some tailgate you with high beam, the light doesnt bother you at all. Downside was wash the glass. I would buy it for the frs if the price is damn cheap like $200 plus shippin. Mis dos chavos

I feel like this is one of those things that's never actually going to happen. Or when it finally gets release it's still overly pricey....who knows

Update: Discussed with MRT and they are now in the process of getting CAD data through the SEMA network to start the design process. All of your feedback has been shared with them!
