As to the wheels, I bet they picked something that looked similar to stock wheels. This thing was meant to fly under the radar.
Hit a bump at 31 MPH and end up facing in the opposite direction LOL.

If you want to get some idea of what this thing would be like to drive, turn all your traction nannies off and go for a drive on snow covered roads.

The danger is where you go around a sharp corner and then get back on the throttle. Even at 20% muted, this thing could be a challenge to drive.

Driven a V8 Miata and while it was nowhere near 500 wheel HP, it was fast but not too twitchy

I'm happy with 275 WHP with 210 TQ @ approx 6200 RPM. Wheels do spin fairly easily but the high up oomph of the centrifugal blower maintains the original character of the engine, albeit exaggerated. This vehicle is really not well suited to a typical V8 torque curve IMHO.

I got to drive this briefly. It is stupid fast. It was still on the OEM tires and wheels at that point.

Now I'm wondering if I should rather wait a little longer (= more $ saved) and go this route (i.e a V8 engine swap of sorts) instead of a SC... in the long run I think I'd definitely be happier with the results - and I expect to keep my car for a long time.

Q though (if anyone here has done a V8/other swap)... what did you do with your FA20 and trans and other bits that come out to make room for the new bits?!?!

Im curious if it would be possible to make a setup like this pass an OBDII plug in inspection...

Honestly, I'd love to save up for a swap like this, its totally a reasonable goal to set for myself. Ive read mixed things regarding passing OBDII inspections with motor swaps/Motec systems that retain the factory electronics/ECU in conjunction.

You got to really love this platform as you can buy a more capable car for the money you will spend doing this swap unless you do it all your self .....

There is no reason this wouldn't pass. Assuming it has the correct emissions equipment. The motor is already an OBDII interface so as long as the computer at emissions reads all ok you are good to go. At least in AZ that is how it works.

We actually featured this vehicle over the summer. We work pretty tight with RS-R and they shipped it to the East Coast for FormulaD Orlando, then to us at our Vossen Forged Factory in Miami!

The car is absolutely superb and I think achieves its goal of being the ultimate street racer..

Most (or maybe all?) standalones don't bother supporting OBD emissions standards, so if someone tries to pull OBD readiness states it wouldn't work.

My beast is a daily driver and even with Proxies on in 1-3 gear I could spin tires almost all night and day. I drive with my toe on the gas peddle LMAO!! I'm pushing 435 RWHP and about just as much torque. Once I build my savings back up I am thinking twin turbo and upgrading my 255's to 295's lol
