I can second the mixed results with oil temp PID working out of the box.

For my 86 both Torque and Harry's lap timer both do not recognise the oil temp automatically, but adding the PID to Torque will work (can't do this with Harry's).

I've seen members chiming in periodically that perhaps developer added the PID to the app itself for Torque and Harry's and that it works for them first go without having to do anything. I tried both apps again after seeing these but my results didn't change. It may be car specific, i've got an early 2014.

2016. Oil temp has worked great since I added the PID.

The oil temp in this car runs kind of high. I get up to 106 C sometimes

Interesting. Yeah I guess I just got lucky that mine worked. FYI I also have a 2014 BRZ.

A few things to mention:

1. There was a lot of confusion it seemed regarding oil temperature in the thread. I can confirm that I used the built in oil temperature sensor in Torque Pro and it worked. Didn't have to input any PIDs. I believe this is because the developer has added the PID to torque, so any new users don't need to worry about doing it. Just wanted to emphasize this.

2. Anyone using Throttle vs. PedalD vs. PedalE? I am interested in logging one of these for auto-cross to visualize my inputs to the car. However, I'm not sure which to use. Throttle was in the torque HUD by default; however it doesn't read the same as pedalD and pedalE. PedalD and PedalE seem to read approximately the same, but not quite.

3. Regarding the OBDLink LX: anyone else having a hard time getting it to go to sleep? I played with it 5-6 times (connecting w/ car on, then turning car off, then waiting 10-15 minutes). The only way I can get it to go to sleep is if I turn off bluetooth on my phone. Otherwise, my phone maintains a connection with the OBD reader, and won't let it sleep. If I turn off bluetooth, the OBD reader monitors the voltage, looking for a <0.1 Vpp ripple (as specified in the Torque settings). It seems to reliable turn off after ~10 minutes. However, it'd be nice for this to happen without turning bluetooth on my phone off. I am mostly paranoid I will forget to turn bluetooth off one day and then I could potentially drain my battery if I don't drive my car for a few days. Any input on this would be appreciated!
Am still curious if anyone has any thoughts regarding #2 and #3 in my previous post.

Gents, I've used the search, but I'm confused, need help please.
I'm looking for the A/T fluid temp.
Is there any way to get it, or not?

This post says it's a good tranny fluid temp, but on MT, not AT.
Anyone tried it successfully on AT?

Many thanks

Has anyone compared oil temp data from the oem sensor and location to an aftermarket gauge installed in the block by the ac compressor? The oem senor seems to constantly read 10-15 degrees fahrenheit higher than my installed gauge. The oem sensor is reading 205 and the aftermarket gauge is seeing 190-195 going down the highway at 75. I assume that's just location differences.

So which PID does everyone recommend monitoring? So far I have:

-intake temp
-intake mani temp
-air temp
-accel
-RPM
-throttle %
-boost
-coolant
-AFR (m)
-MAF cfm
-oil temp
-fuel

Any others worth adding? Any I should remove?

From.the top of my memory, it was my mistake rather than torque issue. When you adding a new PID like oil temp, you need to scroll list bit more down, to find the one you just added. On the top of the list or in the middle (can not remember now) is factory added Oil Temperature PID-THAT does not work. You need to find that one added by you.

This thread, lol... so much overanalysis. Why do you care about RPM when it's on your dash, why do you care about accelerator position when you have your foot, and why worry about throttle opening when, again, that's controlled by your foot and a wire. These are kind of diagnostic items you worry about when an issue presents itself. Ambient air temp is in your multifunction display, so that's another redundancy.

I run Intake Air Temp, Engine Coolant Temp, Engine Oil Temp, STFT, LTFT, and then whatever can plug a hole for a 6th. I think I have engine load in it right now. AFR wouldn't be a bad choice for NA.

What good are logs if you don't record rpm, throttle position, temp, etc?

What good are logs when you're only getting some of the useful PIDs because Torque isn't a fleshed out tuning solution like OFT/Ecutek?

What are you going to do with these logs, stare at them and nod like you know what you're looking at, and then do nothing about it because either you don't have a proper tuning solution, don't know how to use your tuning solution, or have half assed logs because that's all Torque can offer?

I'm not trying to be an ass, I'm just saying it's kind of like reading a book with half its pages torn out.

Torque lets you know if there's a problem. I don't use it for logging but I do use it to watch my numbers, especially if I changed some hardware.

Last year I was on my way to work (in my old car) and noticed that the in-car water temp gauge was fine, but Torque reported a very high water temp. I pulled over and found that I had loosened the rad cap by mistake and had leaked some coolant.
