Say, has anyone converted their music library from whatever fine type to mp3? What program did you use? Did you have to do each album individually or did the software take care of it? Did you have duplicates?

Why? I'll find a way to get more storage before I start introducing noise and crap going to a lossy format like mp3. If the rate is low enough it makes me right drowsy, not to mention annoying me.

I use EAC to rip CD's, and the only time I've done conversion (from Apple lossless to FLAC) was on a linux box. I've actually created a RW cd from iTunes and then converted that to FLAC too. Sometimes that's the only way (if it's protected format)

My new phone doesn't archive wma files properly so I need to convert them to something that it will do. I can't tell the difference between a "good"quality file and a "bad" quality file so out doesn't matter to me. I just want my music to work. I think I figured out a way though. Gonna install a new music player and have it convert my library then I'll delete it

Oh, ew. WMA.

If that's lossless (it can be,) I'd still explore the option of something lossless. There are converters out there. You could keep two copies, but I highly recommend keeping a lossless version around somewhere - there's no way back. Hearing the difference isn't always obvious at higher bit rates, but as I mentioned - mp3 still seems to make me drowsy.

Another option that will take a lot less time, if you're on Android.

I use Rocket Player (paid version) which looks to support WMA (though not lossless, so you may be out of luck) as well, plus a ton of other formats. Good integration, and a very good music app IMO.

I tried power amp and it was instantly buggy so I scrapped that. I'll try to pick a lossless format if I can but my primary concern is to just have my music available. If I had to pay for a music app it would be worth it. So tired of fucking with this phone

I remember when used fire fox with download helper tool and downloaded you tube video, then used audio extractor to get the audio from the video, moved the file/audio to my mp3 player and ya esta.

Download something called xrecode ii. The free version works just fine.

I agree with cjd, go with lossless if possible so your ears won't bleed from prolong listening to lossy compression.
