Whoops, forgot to follow up on this. I had no luck convincing my father to co-sign for me until I have a greater amount saved up for a down payment. Sadly, I had to let my pre-ordered GBS Limited 6MT go
(The dealer already found another buyer, if anyone was wondering). I didn't even bother to stop by the dealer to see it because it would just upset me more. C'est la vie!I've managed to save up twice what I originally was going to put down already, so my goal is to have about $8-10k to put down by the end of the year, which will lower my monthly payment by ~$100/mo, plus I'll pay off a credit card which will free up another $100/mo. Hopefully (if I don't get waitlisted 'til next year because of production capacity) I can order a car in a couple months and take delivery of another one by late November. I'll be giving up my Audi next month and daily driving my MR2 to save more money, but the MR2 doesn't have working heat so it's November or bust! (and by bust, I mean I hafta lease another Audi until next spring.) I'm saddened that I can't be one of the happy first owners of the BRZ, but I think in the long run I'll be better off as I'll be able to put more down and have a much lower car payment to worry about. Plus I can divert a little cash to fix some things on the MR2 that otherwise wouldn't get done with a BRZ in the picture - wheel bearings, front suspension work, new gearbox, etc. I still plan on frequenting this forum (have been on every day since the bad news), so until then I'll just be waiting patiently, and living vicariously through you guys and gals! Driving a 170hp, 2200lb Toyota MR2 with big sticky tires shouldn't be too bad until then

I sent a dispute to the three agencies explaining what happened (to the best that they would allow in under 120 characters
), but I didn't get any response so I have no idea.

Sucks to hear what happened. I can relate in a sense in terms of working on getting things sorted. I am planning on a March-April 13' window for mine due to a few misc things i have to get in order (including getting a garage).
A while back with my second car, i went to check my score once it was paid off...only to find out I got 0 credit for it. Reason oddly, was because it was co-signed. Luckily for my 3rd (and current car), I was able to have the dealer work with me to establish my credit. I suggest credit unions for loans. After 6 months of....17%, I was able to get to a 0.95% through one. Even with a credit score of over 780, Wells Fargo STILL wont offer me a loan! (not that I would want one from them). Avoid banks if possible. Anyways, hopefully you wil be able to get yours in the timeframe you want. It's a bit tough for me at the moment having to wait roughly 9 months for mine, but it will come...and with more $down, and other things in place. |
