True, but the next generation is going to be lighter and even faster...but to each their own...

Next-gen this, next-gen that. Bah! Some of us are tired of waiting.

Just to get back on topic, I spoke with my dealer recently, this backup apparently isn't affecting the FR-S production. Pardon my sigh of relief!

I ordered one three weeks ago. I finally was told last week perhaps late October. I found one in CO. Going to pick it up this week.

Here's the explanation I received. Sounds like similair b.s. as to why there are dealer markups.

"
Dear Xxxx:

Thank you for your order of a Galaxy Blue Silica 2013 BRZ 2.0 Ltd through Faulkner Subaru.
The ETA of your BRZ to Faulkner Subaru is October. This information has been provided to us by our Distribution Department. I contacted Faulkner Subaru and left a message for Doug Jones, the Sales Manager. I advised him of your message to us and where the ETA information is available to the dealership.

With orders of all other Subaru models, ETA information is not available until a VIN has been assigned to the vehicle order. This information for the BRZ orders was specially made because of the uniqueness with the 2013 BRZ production.
Thanks for the opportunity to be of service.

Sincerely,

John J. Mergen

So my logic was if this car came around October-November ish I wouldn't be able to wait that long. It sound childish I know, I think for a car many of us have been waiting years for we could wait. However, Mid-atlantic weather can be pretty crazy. The worst thing to do is wait all this time only to be able to drive the car for a month and shelf it.

I was gonna write a long winded post here but I'll give you a tl;dr and post a link of my thread in off-topic.

tl;dr I sadly will not be joining the BRZ bretheren but I shall definitely salute you guys with the Subie wave anytime I get the chance to. I backed out of my pre-order spot for a 2012 WRX

All I have to say is, good luck to you guys hanging tight for your car to come. Keep doing the research and keep asking around for someone to back out. I believe the wait will be well worth it

Just get on autotrader, set the distance to 300 or 500 miles and start calling. Don't expect to get one at your nearest dealer. It's not going to happen with this kind of car right now. I just picked mine up this past weekend from Faulkner Subaru after finding it two weeks ago online and putting a deposit down. You will have to do some Work for this thing. Don't sit around waiting for an order, unless you want something specific.

On a side note, it's worth anything you need to do to get it. The car is crazy fun to drive, looks amazing (especially in black) and gets tons of confused stares.

I figured you picked it up. I was bicycling past the dealership and didn't see it parked next to the WRB AT they had. Congrats!

I got my order confirmed with a VON on March 12. Still no word on a VIN or ETA.

Looks like we are all in the same boat. Seriously, early preordering doesnt seem to mean jack any more. I hope by some miracle the march order come in July cause Im going nuts waiting just many others.

I thought about looking for another BRZ near by but there is nothing remotely close to what i ordered near by me in a 500 mile radius so that options is out.

An FRS was an option, but lets face it, it wont be the same especially with all the goodies

Well if you are willing to drive a bit (or fly a bit), most of the New Hampshire Dealerships have at least one in their inventory.

Here are dealerships with at least one listed in inventory:

http://www.oceansubaru.com/new-inventory/index.htm

Hope this helps.
