Not sure what solutions the aftermarket will come up with, but a Perrin-style CAI (long tube into bumper cover) might be an option. The Mishimoto oil cooler might work as well given the way it angles its lines.

Yep. When you are talking a space as crowed as the engine bay of these cars a 1/2 inch can be the difference between fitting or not a hope in hell.

I've seen too many Mishimoto oil cooler cars catch fire on track.

Sorry, but pass. I don't want to be checking the banjo bolts every session.

Absolutely correct; the more "square" rear makes it so 2 lines cannot fit side by side back there...

My mind didnt even go to the fittings (mind you this was pre-caffeine), but that makes perfect sense. Well aftermarket loves to create intakes, so i am sure this will be addressed here shortly. Easier to fix the air box, than to re-route or relocate oil lines or components.

Most aftermarket intakes are a direct bolt-on to the 17, same as a 13-16, so in that regard, the problem is already taken care of!

Now, if for some reason the car is restricted to the OEM airbox...

That's the one thing I regret not doing as soon as I got my car.

FWIW I am using the mishimoto banjo fittings but with a mocal oil to water laminova. They started to seep oil a little bit after I initially installed them.

I tightened them up but I added anti tamper paint so it would be obvious if they start coming lose. Its usually vibration that causes them to come lose, so need to make sure there is some play in the oil hose.

Just my 2 cents. I was very nervous using them and was checking under the bonnet every time I used the car for a while. Its now done 3 trackdays and about 5k road miles. If I get them come loose again they will go in the bin and I'll live with 10min track sessions until I can figure out a better solution.

Even 10 minutes is too much if you're redlining. I recommend you keep an eye on your oil temps!

Short shifting will work, if your primary goal is car control rather than chasing lap times...

I think you misread me. I wasnt being precise about 10minutes, I just meant I'll live with shorter sessions. Oil Temps with my cosworth sc stay below 115C in 25C ambient! Even after 30mins of hard track abuse.

Stock I would hit 140C within a 20minute session on cooler days.

Ahh gotcha.

Yeah, the extra torque helps, especially when you don't need to rev as much!

If the clearance is right and if the quality is up to par, and if you can source the sandwich plate from the SARD oil cooler kit, it might do the trick. @nigel-jdmparts might still have a lead. Still looks tight to me.

I'd still say the sc puts more heat into the oil though, but the laminova works a treat and doesn't over cool in the winter on the street.
