Nov 20 is when I sign my release papers, so I'm trying to get ahead of the game and see how much kit I need to steal in order to not owe any money on missing stuff

At the minimum keep the beret, cap badge and combat jacket. They really don't expect the beret and badge back anyway and the jacket is still useful.

Yeah, keeping my beret and cap badge of course, mostly for sentimental reasons. And my combat jacket? Which would that be? Rain jacket, 3 seasons jacket or arctic parka? To be honest, the only decent jacket out of all of them is the rain jacket and I have the older style of the current jacket, which I wouldn't want to keep since it's missing a few key features of the newer revision

Edit: all 3 jackets are cadpat too, so I'd feel like a tool wearing them out and about.

Meant the 3 season. I guess I was just more attached to mine than other parts of the uniform. I have no rational explanation as to why. Still have it.

Yep, I had collected up about two of everything over the years, so, when I would PCS, I'd check with HQ supply and find out what I had signed for ..... and turn those items in. I kept the second set, which I gave away piecemeal to various kids over the years.

I remember one item that I really wanted to keep, was a pair of starlight, range finding, type binoculars. Just as I was about to clear, this quiet spoken supply clerk approached me and asked "Captain Humfrz, if you would like to turn in those binoculars, it would save me a lot of trouble, which may get me into trouble, by trying to write them off ..... ".

I went to my POV and handed him the binoculars.
