Don't confuse Phillips vs JIS screws!

Look up the difference. It's very subtle but the difference between JIS and Phillips often times result in stripped screw heads.

-alex

Edit: It should be noted that many Japanese cars are assembled w/ JIS or Torx heads.

A couple of months ago I told this to a friend who owns a Yamaha Marine dealership for years and he was blown away because he did not know.
So I proceeded to post it on Reddit, expecting to get a lot of comments and upvotes (sweet karma haha). But I got zero upvotes and only two replies, one of them being mine. Reddit is weird sometimes.

I don't think reddit was ever blocked at my work, but I never go on it at work, I think finding that link might be the first time this year... I know some who do though.

Video Game sites are blocked at my work, pretty much across the board. CL and Ebay used to be, but got freed up a few years back.

Farming karma is a delicate game of how you frame the info/shitpost.

This one got big because it allowed dozens of people to stroke their own egos and others could read for 3 minutes and further their own delusions of how smart they are.

The good stuff has the dimple on the screw to indicate JIS, but you would never see this on cars because $$$.

Also, you can modify a Phillips screwdriver with some grinding to fit a JIS.

If you're gonna buy a JIS screwdriver, skip the ones at Amazon because the handles break and the rot from chemical exposure.
Buy these: http://www.rjrcooltools.com/shop_ite...m?subcat_ID=65

Higher end screwdrivers are a god send, it really does make a difference, more so than high end tools. Anything that has to fit on a thingy many times should not be bought cheaply. Hookers including.

Did some googling and found this set: http://www.vesseltools.com/hand-tool...e_sku.tpl.html

Set of the 5 JIS head drivers and 2 flat heads. Shipping to me is $12, so $57 total, not bad.

I have one jis driver from that brand. Two years later, It's holding up fine and no stripped screws or slipping.
