Yep. And there are people with FRSs that have had $5k repair bills for blown engines. On average some cars cost more to repair than others but if you take all the ones that don't require huge repairs into account then it probably averages out lower than the extremes. No doubt that if you have to repair a German car it is going to cost you more but there is nothing saying you will ever have to repair it at all.

We have had exactly two German cars in our family. A 2002 Audi A6 and a 2006 Audi A6. Both were well-maintained. Both were endlessly making trips to the dealership for minor repairs.

My friend bought a much newer S6 two years ago - ignoring my please to her to not make such a financial mistake. That was replaced with a VW (LOL) one year later due to it having become a financial mistake as a result of the repair costs.

Meanwhile, my previous Subaru made it to 286k miles with minimal repairs, and my BRZ is doing well so far...!

LOL so the score is now 3 to one for the German cars are expensive to maintain side. Only 500,678,321 or so more owners to hear from.

Like anything the people with issues speak up and those without remain silent which can totally skew the perception.
Mind you I have never owned a new German car since I think they are all ugly as sin so I really have no idea how good or bad they are and am just playing the averages game.
