Sorry my bad

Torry spoke about MAF...
Means, MAF is ok, as mine on V2 Kit, but you need to change your MAP sensor.

I didn't check on internet, but seems to be true.

Torry ? you could confirm ?

I just got more clarification on the way this works.

The HKS tune uses only the MAF for fuel management while in boost, not the MAP sensor. Therefore, it doesn't matter than the stock MAP sensor maxes out at 1 bar because it's not being looked at while the car is in boost.

The only reason to upgrade the MAP sensor would be if you are using a tune other than HKS that utilizes the MAP sensor to control fuel mapping.

If you have an upgraded MAP sensor and try to run the HKS tune, it will not work out of the box. However, the MAP scaling can be adjusted by an HKS Pro Dealer and the HKS tune an be modified to accommodate the different MAP sensor, it just won't do it out of the box.

ok. so its seems that if I'm just going to bolt on the V3 kit and use the FE 91 tune, i DONT need a new MAP sensor.... right??? LoL

Correct! Save your money! You'll have to send your HKS editor to HKS for the 93 tune if you can get that gas nearby.

MAP sensor upgrade is necessary for a speed density table based custom tune. My car was dyno tuned with Ecutek, speed density based.

It is based on a postulat :
- The "Subaru" MAF sensor is very good
- The "Subaru" MAP sensor is very good

But is it true ?
Maybe enough for the stock Engine. But for a supercharged engine ?
That's why some experienced mechanics wanted/adviced me to change the MAP Sensor, and tuned the ECU themself based on a very good MAP Sensor.

So ... what do we do ?

Let's resume, we have 2 solutions :
- Install HKSv3, let the stock MAP & MAF Sensors, use HKS "General FA20" Maps,
or
- Install HKSv3, change de MAP sensor, tune a perfect Map based on a very good MAP Sensor.

For me, HKS USA sell the V3 Kit + Map "in the box" for some people that don't care if the maps are general (like the Open Flash Tablett), and those who want a better price.
It is not so stupid. It s like the OFT after all... with a HKS warranty, and already in a box.

Thanks all for your informations.
I will sleep less stupid tonight

•There is no maP with the HKS kit.
•HKS is designed to work using the factory maF for readings.
•You need an aftermarket tune to run HKS based on a maP sensor.

•91 octane
•93 octane
•e85

It does NOT have a MAP sensor. Also, read above where HKSUSA stated this.

The stock MAF sensor works just fine. There is no reason to replace it. There's not much to make it not "very good"...it either works or it doesn't, and the stock one obviously works.

For the MAP sensor, the stock one is a 1 bar sensor. It works just fine for reading pressures below 1 bar. It's not that it's not "very good," but the reason to upgrade is to get a sensor that reads more pressure.

However, this is not needed with the HKS tune, as the HKS tune is not based on speed density. It uses the MAF to manage fuel. So upgrading the MAP sensor with the HKS tune literally does nothing except for making it not run because it sends a different scaled signal to the ECU (the MAP sensor is used to stabilize idle on the stock or HKS tunes). If you have a MAP sensor that reads more than 1 bar, then you have to modify the HKS map to scale it correctly and compensate for the different reading.

You/We are mixing M.A.P. (Manifold Absolute Pressure) and maps/tunes for the ECU.

HKS is selling 3 maps/tunes
•91 octane
•93 octane
•e85
included in the Kit SKU:12001-KT003A

HKS is not selling M.A.P. (Manifold Absolute Pressure)

Are we agree now ?

Jesus Christ dude. That's what I was telling you but you seemed to need to argue that they were selling a MAP.
