I will post part Two tomorrow, but this is part one with the

2015 BRZ Limited.
So you didn't like the newer steering wheel better? I had the chance to sit in the new one (couldn't drive it because it wasn't registered) and I really strongly preferred the new wheel. Also maybe because the older one had a chance to break in but I also thought the 2017 seats were a little bit stiffer than the old car, especially the bolstering.

But that's how car makers have been doing facelifts all this time, just refine the earlier offering.

To make it more raw and pure would require a hardcore performance oriented trim, or stop doing it for 10 years and then go back to basics.

When I sat in one the other day, I did not like the shape of the new wheel. Not the shape when facing it, but the wheel grip shape.

Not sure if it is different but sure seems so.

I think both steering wheels have their merit, it depends what you like. After being with the 2017 for about 100 miles now I'm getting used to the steering wheel. What I do like however is the grip area of the old wheel, the new wheel is very S2000 ND Miata size maybe that's just an industry trend. The old wheel is very Mustang Camero size.

All in all good wheels in both cars.

I want alittle more time with the car I'll post part two this weekend

I don't have a preference in thickness of the steering wheel rim, as long as it doesn't have that soft foam feel like newer BMW steering wheels.

So wait.

I just watched

[ame="https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CcAw3apQwQM"]Moto San's impression on the 2017 Series.Yellow BRZ - YouTube[/ame]

At 1:20ish.

He says the hp increase is more like 15-20 because it's actually closer to the catalog listed 205 hp than previous years.

Is this true?

He meant when comparing the real output of the new car vs the old, don't think of the published numbers of either and you will understand what he means.

But then can you really feel 15 to 20hp diff? A good test would be to step on it in 5th gear on the highway and butt dyno to see if the new car pulls?

15-20hp should be a pretty noticeable difference. That's like what a header+tune gives you.

Damn, at least I'm auto and the 2017 auto is the same lol

If this was true, then the difference would be quite noticeable. It looks that the difference is around 5-7hp, which is closer to the official number. There is also a bit better torque feel with the shorter final drive ratio, but this cannot count as a power increase.

Eventually we will get a dyno of a stock 17'. The only way to measure the gain that he is claiming is to see what the car is making at the wheels. At the crank the difference is minimal.

A plain dyno of a stock '17 doesn't mean anything. You need to measure a stock '15 and a stock '17 at the same time. Many differences in every dynamometer and even between different pulls.

I thought this was obvious there was no reason to write the exact procedure.

I would expect a couple different 2017 dynos would start confirming baselines. There are a ton of baselines for these cars.

Sure if you want to be nitpicky about the small stuff but even then you could say the temperature changed between two runs or some bs running two different cars on the same day.

Nothing is obvious. I've read here some of the most amazing misconceptions in my life.
