Two months ago, within 3 weeks, I got 6 door dings. Really pissed me off.
I usually park closer to the left side since all of my dings are on my passenger door, somehow people still manage to hit my car. |

I also live in Chicago (well, Evanston) and I can feel your pain. I've had two incidents of careless people. Once was in a supermarket parking lot when some idiot lady parked over the line (but still three feet from my car) and managed to still open her door hard enough to put a 6" vertical dent in my door. That was completely fixed with PDR through her insurance (I waited for her to get back to her car and got her info.)
The second is a scuff I currently have on my rear bumper. Dunno who did it, but not bothering to fix it because it isn't too bad, and as soon as I do I'll get another one. Either way, I now have a two-channel front-and-rear camera setup in my car with parking mode, so... yeah. Lol. |

I also got worse damage when a piece of debris on I-90 was hit by another car, and catapulted into my door, leaving a 6" gouge in the paint. That required more significant work to fix. |

Yes I do, that I paid for all in cash, put another 6K into and have had it less than a year. Now,I have to pay for something someone else did. If someone broke my home window I'd be pissed. I pay for my own mistakes. If I scratch my car that's one thing, to pay for someone else's asshole move without them even leaving a note is another. Thanks for stopping by. You're an inspiration to the community. God bless

You have a ding or something on the passenger side door too (or somewhere near there...)
I have sooo much cone scrape it's not funny, but I'm not OCD about this stuff. Mostly. It's bugging me a little, but I'm sure I'll find even more. I'd be pretty pissed if someone else had done the damage though, that's a very different thing. My wife's car has been hit twice while parked now, no dashcam evidence (I found out too late and the non-Event stuff had recorded over already... and it didn't trigger an event.) |

Cone damage I did myself I wouldn't mind QUITE as much (though so far all I've gotten is cone blood that has wiped off with no leftovers), but yeah it's the stuff from other people that drives me nuts. I turned the parking sensitivity up pretty high on my camera. I need to test it out. I'm sure a light enough ding won't set it off, but closing my trunk is enough to set it off, so that's a good sign. |

^^ I've had similar things happen. I've also had a couple of hit and runs and every time I've had to cover the deductible.

Target has cameras, file a police report and talk to the manager of the store. I had the same hit and run issue and was resolved because of the footage. Didn't pay for the fix.
