Recommendations On Clutch?

whats going on guys, so i may need a clutch for the car... but idk, i have an apt for monday at the toyota dealership. just looking for some recommendations in case i need one...

my clutch is letting out stupid high, shifting weird as all get out, i believe its slipping. now my slave was bled by the dealership bc they fucked some shit up a few months back and they didnt bleed that correctly bc i bled it this past weekend and their was air still on the system.

i just want some insight incase the clutch is bad... and if it needs a clutch ill be doing a clutch, flywheel, and pressure plate... just so i dont have to drop the trans again for awhile... thanks guys

Before you bury the clutch, I suggest that you test it by setting the parking brake, put it in second gear, rev to about 2500 rpms then let the clutch out slowly. If that procedure kills the engine, your clutch may still have life.

If the release point is too high, you may try adjusting it.

If you're NOT hard on clutches, I understand the OEM clutch would be an acceptable replacement.

PS - if you decide to change it out, don't forget to replace the throw out bearing.

IF you need a new clutch, I recommend South Bend. I have their Stage 2 Daily and it's so damn soft, you wouldn't even know it's aftermarket. Also haven't had any issues with it, and I have nearly 1800 miles on it now.

But you need to make sure you really need a new clutch lol. I technically didn't, but I did need a new throwout bearing, so I used that as an excuse to upgrade.

It’s a conspiracy ……. manufacturer puts in a weak throw out bearing, knowing folks will replace the clutch, once the car is tore apart …….

also it's good to note that if you get a stronger clutch and pressure plate, you might want to upgrade your clutch fork with it

Ya ......I most likely would have done the same thing.

Yep, clutch disk, pressure plate, throw out bearing should come as a "set" ....

The flywheel is usually OK, unless one has "blown up" the clutch ..... however, these days, not many of these spindle engines have enough torque to "blow up" a clutch. Not like in the old days ....... where the pieces would blow out of the bellhousing and up through the floorboard ......

......and the drag strips were uphill .....in both directions ......

And you had to push your car 15 miles in the snow, barefoot, to get there?

ok so update... i went to toyota today! i surfed around the forum and noticed the squeaky clutch pedal thread... saved my life! im dropping my car off at the dealership sunday night, they are gonna go into full investigation/diag bc theyve never heard of the issue... theres still no TSB about the issue and im hoping toyota will recognize the issue soon and recall everyones shit bc im getting tired of fighting with the dealership to warranty this problem. im gonna be real fucking mad if they say that theres no issue with the car and its normal... even though the master tech said "something isnt right at all." now, if he recommends a clutch.. i may still be interested in hearing peoples opinion on clutch kits

Hahaha I love me some throwout bearing noise. As long as she still does the job and doesn't fall apart then no harm. Makes you should like you've got a mad supercharger or gilmer drive ;D
