Since you're in Florida, go find Garry Dean and beg him for an apprenticeship.

So Nah, NLS8520 has the best advice for you so far... I am a pro at paint correction i have done it a long long time. I will be completely honest with you, hope you dont mind. I would take every product and equipment you have and throw in the trash can. The only product you have that is halfway decent is M105. Even with that you will not get a perfect finish because that is not its intended use. I dont want to discourage you but also dont want you to destroy your vehicle. To practice go to your local body shop and ask them for a panel. hope for a hood or a door they are easy to work with. Then practice on that. Also someone mentioned above that you should " Wash, clay, wash, polish" I get what they are doing, but after you polish your panel do not wash it before the next step!!!! you will only put in more scratches and miro marring into your freshly polished panel. I also only use 450 or greater gpm towels. The costco or kirkland towels are still going to scratch your paint. ill give you some steps for perfection but you need the proper tools and products with LOTS of practice... I know your on a budget but there is know way to get a perfect finish on a budget. here you go.
1. Rupes 15 or 21 big foot DA polisher.
2. Mensurna 400-1000-3500 polish.
3. 2k-5k grit wet sand paper.
4. sanding block foam. get at the paint store local...
5. Meguiars makes a soft buff DFC6 pad its maroon in color.
6 Yellow americana pad and a black pad.
7. Find some talent somewhere!
steps. Wash, clay, color sand,DFC6 with menserna 400, yellow pad with menserna 1k,black pad with 3500. After all that perfection... If you want look us up at whitakerbrosdetail.com or facebook instagram i do instructional videos for people like you just to help. They are free i can do one just for you aswell step by step if you want just hit me up.

@Nanoman INFO good stuff. Just a quick question than why would you go with the RUPES over a PC? PC is only $149 while the other is $300 and why choose menzerna compounds and polishes over meguiars mirror glaze and detailer line of products. My main objective would be to start my own personal detailing business with me and some close friends. I'm looking for cost effective products that deliver quality results every. Damn. Time. without having to go over the top. What would you say?

You're telling him to throw his equipment in the trash and immediately start to wetsand? It takes more time to perfect wetsanding than it does buffing, brother. Not sure what kind of pro you are, but handing out advice like that is a surefire way to fuck up your paint if you're never done it before.

I think he missed the portion that your on a budget lol, while a Rupes is an excellent tool they are almost 400 dollars. If you want to do it on a budget and get good results a PC 7424XP is very capable of correcting paint. I own one and have for years, its an excellent tool pair it with the right pads, polish and technique and its great.

I think he is trying to give him an overview of what he needed as Nah said he wanted to start a detailing business. I agree with you though on the wet sanding, its not for rookie's. Frankly I have been detailing as a hobby for 15+ years and I STILL have not had the balls to take on wet sanding, nor the opportunity its on my list though. I think the big takeaway is hone your skills on a beater first, get a friend or family members car that looks like total shit and make it a gem. Practice all your skills over and over before moving to your personal baby.

It kinda seems like you've got this down then. Other users have offered you solid advice and you're responses so far have been "well, I'm gonna do it this way anyway".

Granted, detailing can involve a lot of trial and error, but lots of people before you have gone through trial and error already. Take the advice.

Lol what? I haven't implied any way that I'm going to do it a specific way of detailing but alright. I'm just seeing what everyone else has to say first

Well thats why i told him to get practice panels from the body shop! you should never work on your own car for practice or any car for that matter. Most body shops will give you panels for free...
