Something else - pavement can range from super rough to uber smooth, and this street has the latter.

I suggest doing the pedal dance and getting to know the car without its training wheels, especially if you are already experienced with old school RWD.

I've got a manual.. pardon the probably stupid question...

I've done the pedal dance successfully so I know how to do that. What's the difference between the resulting disabling of the nannies using that method vs. just using the vsc button or whatever it's called? Does the pedal dance disable the nannies to a greater degree, or does it disable a system that the button doesn't address?

Probably answered elsewhere in the forums.. I even think I read it somewhere months ago when I first got the car.. just can't remember. I'll understand if no one feels like repeating the info.. just curious.. and tired.

Thanks...

Barry

The button dumbs the nannies down but they are still there. The pedal dance turns them all off completely so they will not kick in no matter how extreme the driving.

I think the 3 second hold method turns off traction and stability where the pedal dance also turns off EBD and the diff assist feature.

Except ABS, I think. But VSC, traction control, EBD should be off.

I do the same. TRC decided to stop the car mid turn across approaching traffic just because one wheel dared break traction. Its off every time now.

Been in the exact same situation. In my case it was leaving a gravell parking lot on to a 50 mph higway. Between the gravel that had crept out of the lot and the dusty tires, the car decided to dial down any effort to run away from the truck that was fast approaching. It is not that I did not leave enough room, its that the car decided that 5 mph was the safe speed to be traveling.

The same situation exist if you drive the FRS in snow. When making a left hand turn, it is best to turn off the full traction control or else the nanny opts for a mode of acceleration that minimizes wheel spin at the cost of spending more time in front of oncoming traffic.

I thought this story would end with some baby daddy stuff, but the title lead to disappoint.

never had the issue pulling out of turn outs as long as VSC sport was on (which it normally is when driving roads that have gravel turnouts).
