HD radio going in and out?
Is anyone noticing this when listening to FM radio? Basically makes the radio sound terrible because it seems to be switching back and forth between HD and non-HD radio. Has been happening to me quite a bit. Just wondering if this is a known/common issue.
I'm in the North Jersey/NYC metro area BTW. Sent from my HTC One using Tapatalk 4 |

I have the same issue in mine. Although, I only listen to one radio station, so I don't know if it is just a weak HD signal as the station is a good 50+ miles away.

You can turn off HD radio in setting and just have it in lower quality all the time. The switching from HD to non-HD is due to poor radio reception, not the radio itself.

Happens to only one channel in mine. All of the others work fine, so I just don't listen to that one channel anymore

Thanks for the replies guys. Ended up turning HD off by default. Good to know it's just a signal issue.

I put on a longer antenna. I get much stronger signals now and a lot less switching.

I'm experiencing a lot of occurrences of the HD signal dropping out. My #1 station is an HD2 station, so I can't turn off the HD function. No HD, no station.
My previous car also had HD and almost never dropped out. So I guess there's no factory fix for this? Firmware upgrade or something? I have a 2016 with the shark fin antenna. |

I started a thread a looonnnnggggg time ago about Isn't there a better antenna available and believe me when I tell you I tried a LOT of antennas, different lengths, different materials etc. to no avail. If you can turn off HD that's about the only way to overcome it. I replaced my factory antenna (2013) with a 2015 shark fin just for aesthetics and it's no better than the stock one but it looks better.

So is the problem more on the "receiver" end than the "antenna" side of things?

What fix do you want?
My 2015 Lexus ES has trouble picking up HD signals already, and that'a an almost $50k luxury car. |
