I think that's what a lot of people fail to realize or acknowledge, as it gets brushed aside solely because it's an AWD platform without knowing that it's actually a very fun car that is surprisingly involving, given its less-than-ideal layout and specifics -- AWD, 3200+ lb., 60-40 front-rear weight distribution, etc. -- which generally isn't indicative of such descriptions. I agree, it's no ~50-50 FR (or rear-biased MR/RR either), but it's not light years behind those cars either, though a lot of other AWD cars are. Glad to have more input from people who have had seat time.

It was a good daily driver,parts are very very hard to come by and that drivtrain is tough as nails...easilly 1 of my favorite cars and its on that "regret i got rid of list

I agree with you here, even some FWD cars i feel this way about. The Evo 8 was a all time great platform for many different types of racing and driving it and the STI are arguably the most verstaile cars of all time. The Evo had active diffs well the RS and MR did so you could adjust it 20/80 rear biased if you wanted to..

If I remember correctly. They wanted $50k+ for them. The grey one that I saw at least. I would have jumped on 1 had they asked for the original msrp of $36k. Lol. They might not even be for sale anymore. James the owner likes to keep cars like that for a collection. He's had an R34 GT-R in there and a 3000GT VR4 just to have them in the showroom

When they had first made it known that they had the cars, they actually did want sticker, as they were always known for selling Evos well below MSRP. But there was supposedly a buyer from the Middle East who paid that much for one (plus it had to be shipped there), and that subsequently raised the bar for their asking price.

Also, Abbas is the owner (not sure who "James" is), and he also owns Hungtington Beach, Long Beach and Victorville Mitsubishi. The R34 was moved to the back behind the dealership resting between other Evos (and I think this was done around the time the EPA/DOT was hunting them down). I think there was also an Evo VI back there, but that one got sold.

The blue Evo VI got sold alooooong time ago as well as the White R34 (went to the Philippines I think). When was the last time you went to SCM? James is the Middle Eastern guy (Vague I know, because a couple of middle eastern/persian guys work there). Im pretty sure he owns the shop, because he has talked about his other stores too, but he may be the head GM, either way he is high up there. And I talk to Sam alot. If you have been there, Im almost positive you know who that is.

My office is only a few miles away from that dealership. I think I had my 45k mile service there at the end of 2011, though I don't think I've been there recently. Abbas is for sure the owner though. I know Sam, but he's been at Huntington Beach Mitsubishi for a while... I saw him there maybe a month ago when I had my oil change done there at that dealership since I wasn't a big fan of South Coast's service advisor, though I heard that guy isn't there anymore.

I think what most people who haven't had a 300+ HP car and daily drive it day after day, the car just gets mind numbing cause you really can't rev the car without hitting triple digit speeds. Hell my STi gets to speed by 3rd gear and if you keep pushing it, it's ticket time, however my '02 Si is a blast to drive cause I can stretch its legs out in about all gears without worrying too much about tickets, the same thing was true for the '05 WRX I had.

My thoughts exactly. I could set my sights on evo-land again and pick up a used IX easily enough. But when I think back I always felt guilty really 'giving it the beans'. It's an amazing car and I'd love to own one again but at this point the FR-S/BRZ has me drooling. After driving it I lust for it. I want something that I can really wring out more often.

My Jeep is something different but when I think back to my cars.... My Lancer was fun. I put an intake in it and some coilovers so that it could turn a little better. I loved it because I COULD push it.

When I got my Evo I was in heaven... but I didn't keep it long because I saw myself getting in a lot of trouble (and it was a financially stupid move to begin with at the time).

I had a VR4 about 5 years ago the 1st gen had a terrible tranny got mine with 80k miles at 85k miles of being gentle with it the 2nd gear syncro's started to go and they were super duper expensive to fix just for syncro's..so i sold it and took a 2k loss on it. The 1 to buy is the 2nd gen with the pretty stong 6speed getrag tranny wish i would have spent a lil more $ to get the 2nd gen to enjoy this beast...
