Apparently the mental stress of realizing I'm apparently relying on a squad of geriatrics to watch my back. I'm confident I can take orders. I'm outside I can shoot someone in the face and sleep soundly that night. What I can't handle is incompetent pricks telling me what to do. Or sitting around doing nothing all day. Way too much depression for that. Am I the one who "freaked out"? Yeah. Know why? Cuz it's really fucking frustrating having your shit picked at all fucking day. I don't give a fuck how "it is". I'm talking about how it should be. But someone's gotta have a problem with it. "Oh but I'll just sit here and hold my breath till I see your enlistment papers cuz only then will your opinion fucking matter". Apparently being a soldier is easy as fuck and my crippled mom could do it. Why the fuck would I want to sign up? They'll fuck up all your paper work. Lie to your face. Put you under Lt. Douchenozzle who went from basic to officer school and never saw a gun before that. And then, God help you if you get shot, you're gonna lie on the ground and bleed out cuz Barbie sucked her way into your squad and she can't lift her purse, let alone a body. No thanks. I'll just hope I never have to rely on our troops to protect me

This is a good community and a better thread. I would recommend you delete your last post and catch some sleep and come back tomorrow with a fresh mind set.

We all have bad days and snap. Even on forums. I've done it before. I'm sure all of us will roll with it just fine if you take a few breaths on this one.

I know you mean well and I appreciate you trying to diffuse the situation in a civilised fashion. But I can't/won't delete my post because I believe it to be true. It was much worse but I amended it. Meanwhile, don't worry about the military protecting our country. If push comes to shove, Tcoat and myself and lots of other veterans will drag out our M-14s, M-1s, .45s and bayonets to come protect you.

My favorite hand-to-hand weapon, that I keep by my front door and literally have in hand if I don't know the person at the door.

I went to Berkeley with a former Seal on GI Bill. He was a really nice guy. Had nothing to prove. Ladies loved him. He was also a total flake, and I'm pretty sure he was a pot addict. Even in special units, you probably get all types.

I met another guy who claimed to be a former sniper in Nam. He was totally crazy but very interesting. He ended up stealing from the bookstore he worked at and then ran off. Always had a layer of violence under the surface.

If you have an offer, you can also talk to your boss about how you want your own job to change sooner rather than later.

As for admin vs grunt, that really matters when you hit fifty. Bodies do wear out. Injuries skyrocket. A lot of firemen go out on disability because what used to do nothing actually injures them.

What do you do anyway? Turn tricks?
