The wife's 2016 STi has the same gloss black plastic around the Nav screen and it's not a "finger print magnet."

Gloss black finish is so last decade. When you go wipe off the fingerprints you end up with fine scratches.

I'm pretty anal about my car and I still have some fine scratches in my fake carbon fiber dash panel. Speaking of which, fake carbon fiber is pretty lame too.

I wonder when Subaru of America will actually update their website to the 2017? Considering they are now sitting on dealer lots.

Probably soon. It accidentally went live the other day and actually leaked the fact that we're gonna be able to use gps through Magellan but they took it back offline pretty quick.

I inadvertently end up touching the trim anyway while I use it. My hand brushes past the trim as I reach for the knob and physical buttons, I rest three fingers on the top part of the trim while i type crap into the GPS using my thumb, I end up touching the trim if i reach for and miss the volume knob while driving.

Edmunds actually has a link to the 2017 builder, however it seems like its just a template and has no meat to it.

Lol in a funny round about way, I guess this is why steering wheel buttons are handy! And that new app that lets you navigate via phone like car play. You can tell Siri or google to nav you places, I gotta play with it first to see if it works as advertise. I see what you mean though we have a Forester at my house and we have the same issue too, this gloss black in on all Subaru.
