Congrats! I see you're in the Bay Area also! Whereabouts?
It seems like we're the first people in the area to get the 2017's

I saw 2 2017 models sitting at my local dealer on the way home from work yesterday, a white auto and a blue manual.

Unfortunately they're both already sold customer cars so they wouldn't let me test drive either of them and they told me to ask again in a few months. =(

I wonder if some poor guy tried to test drive my car.

I figured there was no harm in asking. I was more thinking if they had a demo car on hand that I didn't see but those were it.

What dealer is this? I would be interested to pop by and take a peek.

Would consider traveling there if I were 100% buying it, but would like to see it first locally before I do.

First time purchasing a new car. Do I need insurance on the car before I go to finish the transaction? Or do the dealers give you temporary insurance for a few days? I'm based in California. Any of you guys have experience with this?

I believe if you have a VIN you can provide that to your insurance and they will add it to your policy which will take effect immediately or the next business day.

As long as you have your own current insurance that should cover you until you add the car onto your policy. I don't think you can add the car on until you sign the paper work.

I think you have around 10 days to add the car to your existing insurance, just like you would with a used car.

I called my local dealer and they said they wouldn't get any for at least 2 months.

I didn't want to just add my vin to my current insurance policy because I wanted to shop around still to get a better rate.

So I can actually "drive" the car off the lot if I have insurance on our other cars?
